I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the use of harnesses vs. the martingale collars. If anyone has experience with using a harness, I'd love to hear about it. Pearl has a really tiny little head (no reflection on her brains! ) and I keep worrying that she is going to slip out backwards. We bought a slightly smaller collar, but I still don't feel totally comfortable. Both her and Rocky are pretty good walker so far and don't pull much, so I don't really feel like I need to be able to use the martingale for control. Pearl does tend to slow down as we start to get closer to home on our walks and I have to pull her a bit - would this be easier with a harness and perhaps more comfortable for her?

Maya can slip out of her collar even when snuggly fitted so I use a surefit premier harness on her(it adjusts at 5 different places) to ensure a snug fit and because she is a spook I also use a short strap and clip to her collar so as to have a back up and to keep anything from slipping off of her her should she panic and start struggling THey sell them thru GEM in various colours www.gemgreyhounds.org/gem_store/online_store.htm , click on the harness couple page and have to scroll down the page for the sure-fit harness, the car control strap is what I use to noose through the ring on the harness and clip to the collar, she walks good with the leash clipped to the harness my bridge girl who was also a spook needed the leash clipped to the collar hence the reason I started using a connecting strap between the two and continue to use since I like the added security of knowing if one item slips off I have a backup, I have seen one grey get out of a harness before(not sure it is was on too loose ) but since seeing it happen, I am too afraid of chancing the harness alone with my girl as she would be a absolute nightmare to recover if she ever got loose

We use the Wiggles, Wags and Whiskers no-pull harness for our guys. It's wonderful for all purposes. We bought them from the same place that ontariogreys got hers. It takes a bit of adjustment for the dogs to get used to the pressure being on their back instead of their necks.
I prefer to walk Echo in a harness since she's puller and Uber because he's a bit spooky and scares easily.

I bought these ones too, but purchased them from through House of Earl, Liz on here. I have a spook too and wouldn't walk him any other way then with his harness. It is also easier with a harness less stress on the neck. We use the Wiggles, Wags and Whiskers no-pull harness for our guys. It's wonderful for all purposes. Thanks for the info! Haven't decided what to do yet. I did buy a new martingale for Pearl that fits her better, but I think I still may try out the harness.
