It is with a sad heart that we said good-bye to Brandy last Tue. afternoon.
Brandy was the third greyhound to become part of our family. After having two males, Nauti and Eddy, who wouldn't run much, we decided to get a third grey, this time a female. We went to the kennel and there was this light fawn girl who was laying in her crate, watching us and would flick the end of her tail. We took her for a walk with the boys and everyone got along greyt, so on Jan.1, 2004, Brandy became part of our family. She was what the boys needed and she made them run!
Over the years she was our one constant. Just as Nauti and Ed welcomed her, she welcomed many who came after her. Lacey, Heidi, Scram, Jordie, Beau, Josh, Sharky, Ollie, Comet and Halley.
She was a healthy greyhound, until about 3 years ago when she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, but with meds she was able to continue on. The walks with the pack became shorter to accomodate her and for the past month or so she could no longer keep up with the rest, so she would get her short walks alone with mom, which she enjoyed. Her breathing was slowly getting worse and she was starting to get weak in the rear end. Last Tue. she was having a hard time breathing and we knew it was time to let her go. She turned 14 this past March and she was with us for over 11 years, the longest any dog, greyhound or other breed has been with us. We will miss you Brandy!
Here are some pics (many) of her. It is hard to get a short list of pics after 11+ years
We went to Dewey Beach in 2004 and here she is playing on the bed in the motel room
She could be silly at times.
She would get some loving from dad
and liked playing with Beau
and could go into stalking mode
She could be a model
and tolerate getting dressed up for various occasions: For halloween.... in the middle, dressed as a devil
dressed as elves for a Christmas card: L to R Jordie, Eddy, Beau, Scram, Josh, Brandy, Lacey
she was a member of the 'Fawn Family', as our first 5 greys were all fawn L to R Eddy, Lacey, Brandy, Heidi, Nauti
never had to call her (or anybody) twice for treats. L to R Eddy, Beau, Scram, Lacy, Josh, Brandy, Jordie
She was always ready to go for walks, no matter who her walking companions were, as they changed over the years. L to R Scram, Josh, Brandy (front), Lacey (back), Beau, Jordie
Here she is enjoying spaghetti at one of the spaghetti dinner fund raisers for GRA
She participated in numerous parades over the years.
This is the 2006 Lambeth Harvestfest ... she is next to me and Nauti is on her right
This is the 2009 Bayfield Easter parade ... she has the bunny ears.
with her brothers and sister after the 2007 Santa parade in Bayfield.... L to R Edddy, Beau, Lacey, Scram, Jordie, Brandy
Brandy also participated in Meet and Greets after these parades (along with others)
Here she is eying a boy's ice cream cone
and here she is behind Scram at another M&G in Bayfield
having a well deserved drink of water at a M&G after one of the Lambeth Harvestfest parades
and finally, here she is dressed as an angel, as that is what she was!
RIP Brandy, we will always love you and miss you!
