Today marks the 4th year we have been blessed to have Slappy in our lives.
We brought him home on December 10, 2010 after meeting him the week before at GRA with Bill. We went there, the eight of us, to find a new friend and we came home with something more!
He was so happy and excited to meet us and I just fell in love with his trust and joy.
It's been an eventful 4 years, first trying to figure out what to feed him. -That was a journey of discovery and education but happily he is doing great now on his raw diet.
Most recently as many of you know, earlier this year we were faced with having to have his right eye removed due to advanced glaucoma. He came though that with flying colors and has never been better.
He has the biggest of hearts, and loves everyone with two legs. Most everyone in our neighbourhood knows him and all are greeted with a snuffle and a head rub. He looks for the small kids and is always gentle and patient with them. He absolutely loved being a part of the Santa Claus Parade in Tillsonburg. I've never seen him so puffed up and prancing like he was. I think he thought everyone was out to meet the Greyhounds, never mind that Santa guy…lol
As a result of having him in my life, I have finally found what I want to do when I grow up! Ten years ago this would never have crossed my mind but Slappy isn't just my heart dog, he has also opened my mind to different possibilities and I am now working on my career working with dogs.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I know we are all blessed by the Greyhounds in our lives, I just wanted to share with you how he has touched me.
I'm sorry I can't seem to post pictures here but there will be some on Facebook soon.
