I just noticed this on the GRA Facebook Page and am putting the word out here as we all must put our "Thinking Caps" on to try and find another supplier of food for our beloved Greyhounds at the kennels waiting for their Forever Home.
Dear Grey members, GRA is recently experiencing a very large hiccup. Our regular food supplier, Agri-brand Purina here in Woodstock has made changes to there production line and we are no longer receiving free bags of dog food. For those of you that didn't already know, our local mill has saved GRA thousands of dollars in food every year. Without free food, there would not be enough money from adoption fees to cover all of the costs to run GRA. We desperately need to find another source. I have reached out to Purina in Mississauga and am still waiting to hear back. If anyone has ideas, please share, if you can afford to donate food, please do. We need to stock up until we can find a reliable source. This is a very scary situation and requires networking. I will post new information as it surfaces. Heather has enough on her plate, so if you have ideas or leads please contact me directly at micsark@rogers.com I will personally follow up and get back to you.
Thanks, Michelle

Update from GRA Facebook:
Food supplier update: Champion foods has a food donation program, the catch is that you have to pick it up........in Edmonton!
PetValu deals on a store to store basis. It's up to us individually to hit them up locally. I have been in contact with one owner and she will only donate to a non-profit that gives tax receipts.
Petsmart has discontinued there Gift Certificate program.
Still waiting to hear back from many others.

not that this is much help, but does GRA still accept the ProPlan food circles? I have a bunch I have been saving to send them...

I'm not sure if this is a lead or not but Nutreco (linked with Shurgain) website does at least offer a Breeder program with discounts and incentives, maybe they would be willing to help...located in St. Mary's Ontario. I have used their lifetime brand food in the past and found the dogs did well (more poop than I like but it was firm and the dogs liked the food). Their food can be purchased at Pet Valu (at least in my area). If someone wants to inquire, here is the information I got off their website:
Nutreco Canada Inc 600 James St. South St. Marys, Ontario N4X 1C7

Hi, is there any update on this issue? Is GRA looking for food donations until they can secure a regular supplier?

I do know on FB that several people got together and brought in a load of donated food. I am sure GRA can ALWAYS use any donations at any time though, food included!
