Its been awhile since I've posted on the GRA Forums. I use to post quite frequently and some of you may remember me and my boyz, aka the Ghound Crew. Most of my greyhound peeps have been following us on facebook the last few years.
We were adopted by Smitty and Stinger in Sept of 2007. They were bounced boyz who ended up on kijiji before being returned to GRA. I always called them the kijiji kids....They were seven at the time, born in 2000, and we had no idea how long we would have them in our lives. We just couldn't leave the old boyz at GRA thinking that most people would adopt the 2 yr olds. We all clicked right away and spent many adventures and long car rides to Collingwood, New York State, vacations at Camp Greyhound and 7 trips to Hilton Head SC. Greyt pups in the car, not once did I ever have to yell " If I have to stop this car..."
P's Stinger, aka Sting-a-ling, Big Sting, Stinger Boo, left for the bridge on American Thanksgiving 2013. He didn't eat much that day but went on his usual walk. Later that night we were snuggling on his dog bed watching football and he just died in my arms. It was comforting to know that he never suffered a day in his life but he was taken too soon from us.
Hey Now Smitty, aka Smit Bits, Smitty Boy, Bitty boy, The Greyt Bitzby left for the bridge Oct 30, 2014. We thought we had lost Smitty in July. He was diagnosed with "Accute Vestibular Syndrome" Also known as Old Dog Disease, which caused him to lean his head to the left and it also affected his balance. We called him ilean, then Irene....he was such a good sport. He could not go down the back stairs due to his lack of balance so I carried him up and down the 5 stairs daily. I carried him like a load of firewood, all 70lbs of him, and he would give me kisses the whole time. We went on 3 daily walks around the block and he would still do goofy runs in the back yard. He loved to rustle in the leaves.
Smitty's left leg became paralyzed on his last day and he was unable to stand with his balance issues
What Greyt lives we gave each other, run free my sweet boyz.
