I am seeking advice. Rory has a slight limp which seems to bother him when he has had a run about the yard or been jumping and acting like a fool and loving life. I was in contact with his trainer, and she mentioned his shoulder injury, which I already had noticed. We have messaged a few times with each other and she concurred that Glucosamine might help. Is there a brand or type that anyone has tried? I am looking at the Kirkland Brand Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. Is this doggie safe? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Cheers! PJ

can't see why not, while I don't use those Kirkland products, I do use Kirkland Omga's. Also, big fan of Tumeric for anti inflamatory anything! M

Michel and Isobel (Whippet) both get Kirkland Glucosamine.Sulfate and Cod Liver Oil daily. Have been using the same as I use for years and it is vet approved by vet in Mississauga and herein Welland. They both take the Cod Liver whole mixed into their supper and the Glucosamine/Sulfate I remove from the capsule and mix in.

Rory is a large male, is one capsule a day enough?

Yes, we use that on all of our dogs. Give them one to two pills daily (500mg/400mg/400mg I think is the dose in one pill). I like to space it out one in the morning and one in the evening. If given at one time, it can cause loose stools.
I have given up to 1500mg of Glucosamine daily. In truth, the better one to give the dogs is just straight Glucosamine HCL (instead of Glucosamine Sulfate). The Gluco HCL is more effective in a canine digestive system.
There are several different options for arthritic treatments out there, but I personally have had the most success with Glucosamine HCL or Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM.

I recently had Nik (8yrs old) to the vet for a check on a few things. She found arthritis in one leg. Recommended 1500mg daily as mentioned by aeiou above. M

Awesome! Thanks guys...I will up his dose slowly. Myself I have found the Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM most helpful with an old hip/horse riding injury. I bought the Glucosamine Sulfate from Costco for Rory, as it is a capsule it is easy to add to his meals. But perhaps when this bottle I done I will look for a Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM that is not in pill form, if there is a brand out there.

I've often tried to find an appropriate joint capsule to give to Kasey, however he has an allergy to shellfish....so most won't work for him...I need to instead find the Bovine kind. Anyone have any luck with finding Bovine based and not shellfish based ingredients?
