I should finally get around to reintroducing myself.
Many of you already know me. I'm Jen.
I used to be a volunteer for GRA from 2004 - 2010. I've adopted seven greyhounds over the years; four of whom have left me for the ethereal world and I miss each one terribly.
I am also a foster home for a couple of other adoption groups, specializing in mostly problematic hounds who need some work before they can go to their forever home.
My current pack:
Uber, aka De Akiller or KC (Killer Cowan) as many knew him back in 2006-2007 when he was at GRA. Born 03/08/2002. He was a very spooky boy who won my heart in early 2006 but at the time we couldn't take on a fifth dog. A year later, he bounced and I wasn't about to give him a second chance to go elsewhere. He's now 12 years old and still acts like he did when he was five. He puts on a good masquerade for the public but at home, I see the true Uber. He's intense, demanding, affectionate, and just an all around goober.

Next is Mojito or FTH Runforcover or Windy Bear. Born 08/14/2004 She had a bit of an interesting back story and I never had any intentions on keeping her when she arrived as a foster dog in 2009. Her previous owner became very ill and it was decided she needed to be put in foster care until he was well enough to take her back, except he ended up passing away. Mojito bonded with Uber, who had always been the "odd one out" in the pack, and my hubby fell in love with her, and she with him. I couldn't bear to let her go elsewhere. It would have been too much for Uber and up to this point, not one of the dogs were attached to hubby. She will be 10 this fall and despite having a huge health setback this past Christmas when she developed Lymphangiectasia, she is on the road to recovery and steadily improving.

Finally, is our little squirt, Beamish. Born in October 2011. He has no race name as he was born in Ireland and never made it to the racing circuit. He's 55 lbs of lapdog, though we joke that there may be some monkey mixed in there because he's quite the climber. My hubby and I met him at New Years, and at the time, we again had no intention of adopting another dog. But we were concerned that Mojito, who was very ill at the time, might not be with us much longer and I couldn't imagine Uber being an only dog after he had been in a pack all of his life. When Beamish met Uber and Mojito, he clicked and I knew he was exactly what we were looking for in our next companion.
His name is what perplexes most people. It's actually a brand of Irish Stout... afterall, an Irish lad deserves a good strong Irish name.

My angels are the littermate boys:
Icarus AKA Jahoda's Richie : 07/15/1999 - 04/11/2007 - our first greyhound.. a fragile brindle boy with the most soulful eyes and expressions. He showed me what this breed was all about. I wish we had more time together.
Atlas AKA Jahoda's Spanky : 07/15/1999 - 01/06/2012 - I couldn't pass up the first littermate to arrive. He was Icarus' keeper, companion and protector but also our goofy boy. He made us laugh all the time.
Orion AKA Jahoda's Elect : 07/15/1999 - 07/25/2013 - Mr. Serious who took a long time to adjust to pet life, but then again he did race in to his sixth year. He was strong, beautiful, and had a natural protection instinct.
and our beautiful Miss Echo AKA Ay's Gidget : 05/08/1998 - 03/11/2011 - My girl. My heart dog. She won me over in 2005 with her dog version of a Burpee. My comedian, ambassa-dog, and all around best friend. She loved everyone and everything.
LtR: Atlas, Orion, Icarus and Echo...
Hence the user name: A E I O U <3 A tribute to my vowels.
I'm so happy to be back and to see so many of my friends still hanging out on here. I'm looking forward to the new future of GRA.
