Hi! Here's hoping Miss Willow is back on track soon Not sure if your vet mentioned this, but do not be alarmed if Willow does not hve a BM for a day or so...that is the Flagyl (metro pill) letting you know it is working to soothe the gastrointestinal system. As for the heartworm meds, Adv. Multi has built in dewormers...so it could be flushing out any latent 'critters' from her system. I would hesitate to think the heartworm meds were the cause since it is a topical, not an ingested med. Did she manage to lick the application site before it dried? I would lean more towards the new food being the cause, or being over heated as you mentioned. At any rate, hope things are improving by now

Update again....again...
Willow is back to normal! We've had firm poops (solid glorious logs)for the last 5 days with no metro! The timing seems to indicate that it was an adverse reaction to the Advantage Multi. Its effects are said to wear off after 21 days, and thats precisely when Willow's poop went back to normal. I also took her off the metro the day before to see if she was really firming up, or if it was just the metro, and she's been perfect ever since. I doubt she ingested any of it, it was in a place she couldn't reach, and I supervised her for several hours after the application to make sure she wasn't trying to get at it. I also picked up a small bag with from a different batch of her normal food, just to see if maybe we got a bad bag, but have since run out and she's doing fine on the old bag again. I even called Blue to find out of there had been any reports of a bad batch, and they said they hadn't heard anything, but took down my info anyway, and put some treats in the mail for us.
I think the first bout of the squirts was probably unrelated, and caused by the sudden crazy hot weather, and my sauna of an apartment. But the timing of the last 3 weeks, and the firming up on the 21st day, pretty well confirms the Advantage Multi theory. My vet thinks so too.
So now, what to do about critter prevention? if anything? Thoughts?

I've always used Revolution with my dogs, but River's fur is too thin for a liquid application - it just spreads all down her back and then she can reach it to lick it. She has no undercoat whatsoever, so there is nothing to absorb the liquid. So this time I am using the Sentinel because it's a pill. No adverse reactions, and no critters so far. Glad to hear Willow is feeling better! Good deducing by all!

So glad she's doing better! I too use Revolution but I know there are posts on here with natural options too. I'd consider that since she's sensitive.
