Keeping you guys in my thoughts. I'm sure tomorrow will go just fine. The waiting is the hardest part. Have faith in Dr Quinn and even more faith in Slappy's ability to adapt so well. Looking forward to hearing that all went well!!!

Hoping to hear good news today!
And I wanted to reinforce what everyone else was saying about dogs and blindness - it'll likely be harder for you than it will be for Slappy! My sister has a pomeranian who is blind in one eye from a dog attack, and by the way he acts, you'd never know it. Still as sweet and silly as always(though you have to make sure not to sneak up on him)!
Wishing the best!

Update on Slappy… He had his surgery today, it went well and I got the call around 2pm that he was done. We went there around 4:30 to see him and he was struggling to come out of the anaesthetic. He was ok, just really dozy. We decided that he should have a sleep over at the vet's so that they could keep an eye on him and I thought it would be a safer place than at home. I would have sat up with him there if they would let me but I know he is in good hands and I will be picking him up in the morning to come home. It was a bit startling to see him today, I don't think I'd really given much thought to how he would look and I was quite taken aback. They had to shave about half his face and with the staining from the pre-op cleaner and the blood he looked pretty rough. I only cried a little bit though and he lifted his head to look at me when I got there. He's such a good boy. I miss him and can't wait to bring him home tomorrow. I know he will be fine and I am feeling much better now that it is behind us and we can move forward with the healing. Thank you all for you thoughts and prayers, I will keep you updated with his progress.

We brought Slappy home Saturday morning!!! Yay!! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, I really do believe they work. He is glad to be home but not happy having to wear the cone of shame. I think this is why he is wanting to go out for walks, because he doesn't have to wear it then. Also if I am with him I don't put it on, but it gets so itchy he is trying to scratch it with his foot and I am terrified of him ripping out the stitches. The doctor said it went well and he will be fine once he is healed up!. He has no problem taking his meds, thank Dog, and I am getting used to his appearance. I think once his fur grows back around the incision he will look more like himself.

Sending positive vibes to Slappy! He may bonk into a couple walls the first little while (my parents dog lost an eye), but he will adjust eventually! I have some questions, what did the white swirls look like.... Rosie has a couple of white bumps on her cornea's, it doesn't look like a fog, more like something on the outside of her eye... It doesn't seem to bother her at all. Any thoughts?

I am so happy to read that all is going well. He will definitely heal faster being home with his family. Do him a favour though and don't move any furniture until he has had a chance to get used to seeing with the one eye. Before you know it you will be forgetting that he can see out of one eye.
I had a pup (not a grey) who went blind and people would not believe me when I told them, they had to see his eyes for themselves. He bounced around like a puppy and he was 15. I had to help him with stairs though.
Slappy is a lucky boy to have such a good Mum who looks out for him like you do.

Glad to hear Slappy is home and on the road to recovery. These greys are pretty amazing. I have no doubt he'll be his old self soon. Scritches to your boy.
