So I noticed the day that I picked her up, she had a bare spot on her front leg. At the time it was chaffed and dry but otherwise didn't look bad. I figured it was an old race injury where she'd scraped off some skin and the hair just never grew back. Though I've happened to notice when she sleeps head forward, a lot of the time the one leg is right below her chin. Today when I was giving her a once over, the red caught my eye and I've concluded that her leg is a makeshift lick toy. I decided that I'd try to treat it before she licks it any worse. I figure it is possible anxiety from the first few days in a new home. I applied Polysporin triple just to clear up any infection that might be starting, as well as help the healing process for the raw part. I then wrapped her leg with 3 layers of flexible gauze, and then medical tape around the top and bottom (a few times around). I then gave it a hockey stick style wrap to make it as lick and chew resistant as I could since I don't have the no-lick dunce hat for her. (I'll probably buy one tomorrow at the pet store). Now the patient is resting:

Looks like that's where she was shaved for the iv when she was fixed. Colloidal silver would be good to have on hand as well for any wounds or scratches but it looks like you've got this covered (literally!) LOL! Hugs to your very comfortable patient - she is beautiful!

It actually is one bed but looks like two. Pillow top with a memory foam base. Its the kirkland lake one from Costco, that unfortunately isn't sold in Canada so I bought it off ebay. She loves it, I may have to order another lol.
Ah, I wasn't sure what caused that spot, IV makes sense.

I bought it from the seller grannysbargainsgalore, here's the link to it: www.ebay.ca/itm/121293817349?var=420247608214&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I had an issue where some of the listings had Canadian shipping but then after the transaction went through the seller contacted me to let me know they can't ship to Canada.
I am always like wtf? what is so hard about fedex/ups?
Price wise, I think its a good value for what it is. The outside cover is fairly tough material with a micro suede texture, it has a concealed zipper so it can be taken off and washed. I'll see how it stands the test of time. The dimensions are kind of odd so it probably won't fit anyone's standard crate size but I bought it for my office floor so she can lounge while I use the PC.
It was about 125$ CDN all in with no additional duties or COD at the door. The box it came in was fairly lack luster but eh it didn't look or smell used and does have the Kirkland logo stitched on the side so its probably the real thing (not sure if Chinese knock-off dog beds are a thing or not lol) Normally I'd find that a little steep for a dog bed, but given their bony joints, if I am going to spoil her with something luxurious, it'll be what she lays down on when its not the sofa or my bed lol.

Np crafty For what its worth, I am not trying to push or sell those particular dog beds. Just passing along my experience with it for any interested peeps. Pretty sure I am within the ToS (I did read them first heh). I am also not entire certain what belongs where on the forums yet. I've been meaning to start a new thread for Bailey, just not sure if it should be in the florida hounds, introductions, or photo's area heh.

Moves licks her leg raw occasionally. It's very strange. There is an actual medical term for it. She will go weeks , months, then out of the blue she licks it raw.

hopefullygrey ... the Florida/West Virginia/Alabama sites were put up for the parents of hounds who could hopefully get information about their greyhound's track and kennel life, i.e. parents looking for comments from trainers or kennel help, puppy farms, anyone who can shed more light on their hound's previous life before being retired. You can post Bailey's photos or just a post on the Photo Gallery showing us a typical day in Baily's life, her roaching, etc. The Introduction is usually giving the members an intro to your new girl and you can post photos there as well.
I too think Bailey's raw spot is originally from IV and it seems that you have attended to it very well. It may be itchy at times especially after she's been licking it so having it covered for a few days should help it along well. Bailey certainly is a gorgeous little girl. Good luck with her leg.

soon as I saw the photo I thought 'shaved site' from vet care. Hope it's healed soon. When Lottie had an op she wouldn't leave that section alone and took off about 5 inches of fur. Since then I've always asked for any IV's to go in a back leg which she leaves alone and they have fitten the IV without shaving the area first - and there's been absolutely no problems at all. Thank goodness.

All healed up. The fur is about 1/3 regrown. When she was at the vet, and the vet went to draw blood for the heart worm test, he picked up her leg and said "Oh, she'd had an IV in the last month or so." lol.
