We have a funny story to share about our girls, and flowers. I recently went out and purchased 6 flats of pansies. As I was at the store I wondered to myself if the girls (mystic and violet) had ever seen flowers before. It occurred to me that perhaps they had not.
Didn't think much more about it. I returned home and placed the flats of flowers on the sunroom floor. Shortly thereafter I let the girls out (they go through the sunroom into the back yard). When I returned..... well lets just say there was a major pansy slaughter in my sunroom . The entire sunroom was covered in pansy parts. Initially quite angry, I soon giggled. They must have had sooooo much fun@! Needless to say I planted what I could salvage.
I have also wondered how much exposure the girls have had to grass. They just Love to lay in the cool grass. One things our greys have taught me is to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Violet is just happy to be! They are truly a blessing.

That's funny, and you bring up an interesting point. Adopting greyhounds has really been a humbling experience. When we first got Jack, he marveled at such seemingly small things - his reflection in the mirror, his mastery of stairs, his desire to stop during our walks and smell flowers. Your post also reminds me of what it feels like to teach your grey to "sit" for the first time.. This simple little command, that most dogs learn during puppyhood, is completely beyond most greys. Watching them discover themselves and new things as adult dogs is really wonderful. At least you eventually saw the humor in the flower massacre Good thing pansies aren't expensive!!

You have be taken over by greyhound love! ;D Things that you think would anger you actually bring out your lighter side when in the company of greyhounds. I have had cellphones, shoes, papers, purses, borrowed books and more shoes shredded by Chevy. When I walk in the door and see all the shredded evidence on the couch with Chevy right in the middle of it with his tail wagging I just can't be mad. Greyhounds just have a way of turning your frown upside down!!! ;D
