Hi everyone,
Can't believe that the picnic is approaching so quickly!
Last year when we went to the picnic we camped with our trailer @ Lake Whittaker Conservation Area (less than 10 minutes away from GRA). We stayed Friday night and Saturday night and made a weekend out of it. We wondered if anyone else would be interested in camping that weekend (even if Saturday night works for some, that is okay too). Any thoughts on this? Places to camp that are close to GRA other than where we went?
We thought it would be fun to have a gaggle of greys if possible!!
We haven't booked our site yet and will hold off on deciding where to go until we hear from anyone else who'd like to join us. Everyone can book their own site according to their own preferences/dates etc. and we can meet up there.
Thanks! Danielle

when camping with greyhounds what's the best suggestions to keep them contained but not to have to keep them leashed the whole time? Just wondering the best set up to have as I'd love to try this.

We use a soft sided playpen - it's 6 sided with netting for windows and a roof (you'll see a photo of it as our avatar). Bella loved it and we knew she was safe from bugs and could still see what was going on and enjoy the sunshine without having one of us on the other end of a leash all the time. Here's a link to one just like ours but in burgundy. This is the same seller as ours - I'm sure there are more on the internet now and maybe even @ pet stores since we bought ours 1.5 years ago. www.ebay.com/itm/Burgundy-Pet-Dog-Cat-Tent-Puppy-Playpen-Exercise-Pen-L-/310326633164?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4840e8a2ccHope the link works - let me know if not and I'll try again...

When we are camping, I have a metal x-pen with me which I set up under the awning (it also has it's own sun screen that I can tie onto the top, which also works to keep Summer IN the pen should it occur to her to try to jump out, even though she never has). Also, I let her be loose in the screen room and I'm very comfortable with that as she is not the type to try to get through the screens. The screen room also has a fully attached floor, I wouldn't let her off leash in a screen room which didn't have a floor. When we are traveling, usually to greyhound events... I take my soft sided x-pen with me. It's much lighter than the metal one and is easier to set up. As to camping near GRA, we did it one year and we camped at Port Burwell Provincial Park. It was nice but it's too much work with a popup to arrive on Friday night, set up, spend Saturday away and then do takedown on Sunday morning. We now just stay in a suite at the Comfort Inn in Ingersoll.

Owned by Summer - we have the same xpen! I think we saw yours @ the picnic one year - can't remember but they're a fabulous idea!
