It's been almost six months since I brought my hound home so I suppose I should commence with the introductions.
I am originally from New Jersey but I grew up mostly in Pennsylvania. I move with my job twice a year (spring and fall) and I have lived all over the US. I came to Canada for two reasons. One, there was work here for me and two, my best friend Tish (aka Holmes@home) is from Fort Erie.
I wound up at GRA because Tish told me about their website. We initially just drove up there to "look" and we both wound up bringing dogs home that same day. The car ride home was pretty amusing. We had to cram three people and three dogs (Tish had brought her terrier mix along for the ride) into my small Volkswagen. Our boys are on the big side (80 lbs. +) so it's a good thing Tish is small since she wound up in the back seat with both of them. I'm not even going to comment about the greyhound-based fumes emanating from the back seat...poor Tish.
It sure has been an interesting journey to date. Trip has had lots of things thrown at him: a curmudgeonly cat (Trouble), linoleum floors (aka skating rink for greyhounds), mirrors (imagine my surprise to see him viciously snarling at his reflection), a washing machine (EGADS! What is THAT?!), etc. Do I even need to mention stairs?
I go hiking a lot. Trip likes to go but I think at first he just didn't see the POINT of being all the way out in the middle of these godforsaken woods. Now he gets excited when he realizes we are going hiking.
I have to return to the States within the week. Work has dried up and I miss my family/friends from back home. I look forward to traveling with both the hound and Miss Curmudgeon. The border crossing will be interesting...
