My heart is breaking ... I just returned from a specialist appointment with Albert at OVRS (Oakland Veterinary Referral Services) in Bloomfield Hills MI. where it was confirmed that my 4 year old angel has osteosarcoma - cancer of the bone. With a leg amputation and radiation and chemo treatments, his life might be extended for 6-8 months. Otherwise, I need to keep him as comfortable as he can be until such time as I need to say good-bye.... His best friend, Victoria (Coach Terri), is keeping a close and loving watch over him .... He's only been with me since June 2012 - but what joy and happiness he has given me.... Attachments:

I am so very sorry to hear this. There is nothing anyone, least of all I, can really say to help in this situation but I will have you, Victoria and most of all, Albert, in my thoughts. I too am in Windsor and while I am not especially religious, I will add a special prayer at Thanksgiving for you and your sweeties. Stay strong. *hugs* <3

What horrible news, I understand how your heart must be breaking right now. How fast they get into our hearts is incredible I know you will do what is best for your friend by following your heart, after all you know him nest.
You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so very sorry, poor Albert. I know very well how you feel and what Albert will be going through. Devastating..my heart breaks for you both. I just lost my angel and heart dog Troy in Jan from OS. Keep him close to your heart and give him much love.

So sorry that your beautiful Albert has been diagnosed with this dreaded disease. Although our time with our beloved pets is always much too short, it breaks my heart to hear of such a young dog to be diagnosed. Hugs to you & your family during this difficult time & scritches to your puppers.

Oh no!
I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am. I've lost 4 to OS, but all were much older than 4. Albert is far far too young. I hope you can keep him comfortable for a while yet.

I am unfortunately a member of the club as well, my broodie Connie passed last year at 10 from OS, and my beloved Mille left in December at 8. Whether you palliate or amputate, the key is lots of pain meds. The triple cocktail worked best for us (NSAID, tramadol, gabapentin). Don't be shy with it, the docs sometimes don't give enough.

Your Greyhound Family of GRA are all with you on this journey and will be there for you and Albert with support along with their love and prayers. My two greys are sending Albert hugs and kisses and give Albert all the meds required so that he is pain free.

I can only imagine the shock, disbelief and heartache that hit with this diagnosis. How heavy my heart feels reading your post. I wish you strength and comfort as you deal with this crisis. Without a doubt Albert knows he is in wonderful, loving hands... and knows, too, that you will do what is best for him.
Prayers. Take care.

I remember when you adopted the little guy. So sad to hear the news, especially for such a young one.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with you Albert and his sister as the three of you face this terrible diagnosis. Hugs to all of you.
