We have had Boudica (aka Royal Gait) home for three days, now. Boudica's very sweet and likes to be petted. She's still very anxious, but we're making small progress. The stairs aren't too much of a challenge, but she is scared to go down them because of the noises coming from construction across the street. So far, Boudica also seems uninterested in most treats. We have tried using biscuits, cooked chicken, and peanut butter as rewards, but she is often not into them. She does eat her dinner, though, as long as it's a bit moist. She pants a lot. Currently we are tethering her to us a lot when we are walking around the house. We take her out often, so there haven't been any indoor accidents. We she'll have a significant adjustment time, but we're very patient and loving. (I'm not sure why the photo is sideways, but I thought I'd post it, anyways).

Good to see she is beginning to adjust. I'm sure she will be excited about treats in no time once she settles in she has such a sweet face

Congrats on adopting Boudica. Everything is new to her so she will come around and hopefully be interested in treats. As you said you have lots of time! She's very cute in her picture.

Congratulations on being adopted by Boudica. It sounds like with the love and patience that you are showing her she'll settle in soon enough. .....and they all seem to come around to the treats eventually.

Congratulations! She is such a pretty girl! Loved her dark brindle face when I first saw her on the adoptables page. As others have said... with time, she will no doubt adjust to things in general. It is so satisfying to see them gain this confidence! (My Light was also skeptical of new treats at first, so I picked up some good 'ole plain Milkbone treats (as I had heard that they were familiar).... she did not hesitate a bit with these in the early days ).

Congratulations on adopting Boudica and welcome to the forum. As others have mentioned, your girl will one day enjoy her treats and everything else that goes along with her retirement. This new environment is so foreign to her, the smells, the sights, the sounds and the people, but as you said with lots of patience and love, she will adapt to her new home and love it. It's so amazing and rewarding to see those changes take place. She is gorgeous ... looking forward to more photos and updates.
