Have finally taken the time to log on and brag about my first greyt -Jedi Ginger - she lept out of the site at me over Christmas and I called Bill and told him I had to have her. My other half and many friends thought I was crazy as I was unemployed and dealing with an elderly mom and several of her health problems which required hospitalization. Even better, I live in Ottawa and had to find good weather to travel. It all worked out and brought home a very timid and shy Ginger to a wicked cold spell of -30C. She never wanted to go out or walk more than 3ft. Bought many blankets, booties etc. Has since become a neighborhood celebrity and is loved by all my friends, all invitations include her. She is also a favorite visitor at my moms retirement home, gets mauled by everyone and she loves it! Her special treat is to get to visit her BIG sister and have a good run in the indoor riding ring. I have not regreted a single moment about getting her and love to watch her gain confidence and come into a fun and playful dog. I recommend GRA to everyone and hope all greyt lovers hug their dogs today. Happy dog days of summer!

Welcome to the forum, ... and thanks for the beautiful update on Ginger. She sounds like she's the perfect little girlie and truly enjoying her new retirement. I love seeing that gorgeous greyhound personality blossom as they adapt to their new lifestyle.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for the update on Ginger! I too have a horse and agree that the greyhounds do love to zoom around the arena. My new girl will have to wait a week or so before she gets to experience it but it is a wonderful place for them to let loose. Would love to see some pictures of your girl if you get a chance to post any! Keep the updates coming - we love hearing about the first year adventures.

Welcome to the Forum and I am so glad Ginger has made such a wonderful adjustment. Sounds like you are both winners in this case. I am especially glad to hear she goes to visit your mother in the retirement home. They are such gentle souls and I can just picture the seniors enjoying her company. You are not only brightening your Mums days but a whole bunch of other deserving seniors as well. They all deserve a smile and it sounds like Ginger is just the girl to take care of that.

Welcome to the forum! I too am from Ottawa, and driving to GRA was worth the drive to find my grey Ace. Send me a message if you want our greys to meet up sometime.

Hi Acemom, sorry to be so long to reply but started a new job Aug.1 and took a while to settle into new routine. I would love to have our greys meet. I keep missing things like the picnic as I work weekends but the new job is my dream job working with my large animal vetrinarian at his clinic in Kemptville. I also work only 4 - 10 hour days so lots of time for Ginger and my horse. i live in the west end of ottawa but do not have a fenced yard but am close to the Ottawa river for long walks. Let me know if you are available, Ginger has only met one older grey since I got her and she doesn't seem to want to socialize with other dogs in area. Thanks for your reply.

Hi horseandhound,
Sounds like you've had a busy summer indeed. We live in Kanata so feel free to email me at cbeckwith@rogers.com if you want our hounds to meet up sometime for a run or a meet'n greet. Weekends are usually good or early evenings. Hope to hear from you soon.
