It is with a very sad heart we said goodbye to our beloved gentle boy Rex. What started as a limp and clear x-rays exactly two months ago rapidly developed into something more sinister and very painful. In my heart I knew a simple limp that does not go away is the beginning of the end, but I held out hope based on what the vet saw on the tests. In the final week he deteriorated rapidly and was in pain despite very strong pain medication. The lump on this left shoulder grew bigger and we knew cancer was the likely diagnosis. He went peacefully with his best fur buddy Maia and the whole family by his side. Rex was adopted on his birthday on in 2007 and quickly took over my heart. Rex was my first greyhound, and the gentlest and loving dog I have ever known. He brought only joy and unconditional love to everyone and any furry creature he came across, including rabbits. Maia, who arrived from the kennel one year later, took to him like glue. We have so many wonderful and happy memories of our beautiful boy and will cherish them forever. No matter how painful it is to say goodbye, Rex will always be remembered for the joy he brought over the time he was with us. My deepest condolences to everyone else who has lost their beloved fur buddy recently. My thoughts are with you. Forever loved and never forgotten, run free my sweetest Rex.

It is never easy to have to say good-bye to one of our beloved pets. You gave Rex the best 5 years of his life in his forever home and he knew how much he was loved there. Rex if free from pain and is running like the wind with all his other angels from GRA. Rest in peace sweet Rex.

Rex was sure a handsome boy, what a lovely photo of him. Your tribute to Rex was so heartwarming .... the joy and love that he brought to you was also what you gave to him. You are what made his retirement a happy one. Remember, he will always be with you in spirit. Godspeed beautiful Rex.

I don't know if it was a premonition, but I have been thinking of you and your two hounds a lot lately and how we have not bumped into each other in the neighborhood in such a long time. My dear Chicky will have gladly greeted Rex at the other side of the bridge as she always enjoyed seeing him (much to Maia's displeasure). The photo you posted of your handsome boy was a wonderful choice, but I can honestly say I will always remember him on walks carrying around a stuffie in the neighborhood. Hugs to you during this difficult time. Run pain free Rex with Chicky and all the other beloved Greys!
