We have had Olive for 6 months now and her and Suki every day, twice a day ate their raw food side by side... Suki is very food motivated and LOVES to eat and get treats, Olive eats because it is time to eat but doesn't Love food like Suki.
Now Olive has decided that she does not want to stand and eat her dinner out of the bowl beside Suki or otherwise.
I have tried having her on leash so she has to stay by her bowl and we have tried leaving her and her food alone with us and Suki in another room so she can take her time, I have even tried putting some cheese or crushed treats on her bowl to get her to eat it... we have even switched the brand of raw we are serving, and aside from not liking the turkey at all, she acts this way 60% of the time with the same indifference.
As I am always overly concerned about everything the new pup does - and I didn't want her not to eat and be hungry after I left for work... I took her food to her on her bed and placed it next to her while she was lying down - she ate it no problem...
the new issue - she now refuses to come to eat until her food is served to her...
I know this is ridiculous and I created this monster... but how do I go back to the beginning and get her to come to her food and eat, when I have another dog who is more than happy to eat her dinner too and Olive does not like the option of leaving her separated from Suki to eat, as she can't stand to be away from Suki...
Any tips... or reassurances that she will eat when she is hungry and won't starve if she is too stubborn to come for a meal...
We used to have all kinds of eating issues with Suki until we switched to raw from kibble... but I never though we would have a problem going to other way... the raw food has been such a benefit to Suki as when she was on kibble she had allergies, a benign tumor and terrible teeth. Now she is healthy, has lots of energy and a shinny coat! So I want Olive to benefit from all these benefits too I just don't know how to get her to want to eat her dinner...
