It is with a heavy heart and a lot of tears that I said goodbye to my Bella today, just a couple days before her 9th birthday. She was helped peacefully to the bridge in her forever home with me, her mom, brother and sister all with her. She had fought a brave and courageous battle. She will always be my best first greyhound. So great that a year after we got her, we went back for another. You will always live in dad's heart forever my sweet Beeber.
HOW I MET BELLA
I was first introduced to greyhounds 4 years ago at a local Petsmart when Michigan REGAP brought them over. It was love at first sight and I filled out the adoption paperwork right there. The next day I was told I was approved and started looking at ones I thought I would like. Each time I called about one I liked I was told another story. ("You have a jack russel? This one is not small animal friendly", "This one must go with another grey as they have an issue", "The foster has decided to keep this one", "This one is cat friendly and must go to a home with a cat", etc.
After a bit of research, I found Bill and GRA. I called and made the appointment and started looking at the adoptables page. There I saw this beautiful white girl with a black patch on one eye and a small mark that looked like mascara above her other. Her name at the time was Ethel. When we went I asked to take her out for a walk. We walked down the road for a bit and started back. She was perfect right from the start. Right before we headed back to the kennel, I reached over and gave her a hug. She responded with a kiss to my cheek. It was that moment that we picked each other.
I should thank REGAP. Because of their ways, I met Bella and she changed my life forever.
I will miss you my sweet girl. You are my big girl with a big personality. You will always live in dad's heart forever my sweet Beeber.
THROUGH THE YEARS.
Leaving GRA for her forever home
Her first week sunning in her backyard
One of many naps on the cushy
Cooling off in the lake at the GRA picnic
Playing with a stuffy
Modeling and showing off her bling
She even learnt how to sit
Her favourite pillow to rest on
And loved giving kisses
Didn't mind her Birthdays.
But wasn't a big fan of Christmas
And a couple poses
Run pain free Bella, we will be together again one day.
