Well, after a couple of requests I'm going to write about Ellie and the tree. When Toby was still with us his favorite spot to lay was near the door, which happens to be near where we put up the tree. Coach loved to use Toby as a body pillow. To ensure that Toby was comfortable we turned the coffee table sideways to block off access to him (and the tree). My daughter Mary spent two whole days decorating the most beautiful tree we've ever had, multi shades of sparkly blue and silver. Onto the fateful day. I arrived home from work, on the side of the table with Toby and the tree. Just incase you didn't know, the most exciting thing in the whole world is when mommy gets home from work. Without any warning at all, Ellie springs up and dives straight across the coffee table. In the process her legs snared all the lights on the tree. I'm sure you can envision the mess. Tangled lights all in a mass and balls flying all over the place. No one was harmed in the making of this production. Toby and Coach had a look of "oh s*it, now she's done it" on their faces, and Ellie was just very happy she'd gotten to mom! We all very quietly left Mary and the tree alone. All has been forgiven and Ellie is still knocking off an ornament or two with her tail every time she walks by ;D.

Now that's just the way she looks lol. Imp indeed, I know she will help to heal you and Mary. That's why they make greyhounds so skinny, so you can fit lots of them into your heart.

OMG what a great story. I can just picture it. LOL
Isn't it nice to be so important that they will go to any lengths to get to you....

That's a wonderful story, although I'm sure it didn't feel that way at the time, and Mary must have been crushed. I'm glad all is forgiven.

And I think it's such a hoot how patient Mary (Martha Stewart of Christmas Trees) is. She's so particular about her tree (omgosh, everything symetrical and everything matching), decorating it must be a constant thing, LOL!
Tell her it's a gorgeous tree, but looks even better with Ellie under it.

Hopefully Mary's able to laugh about this story eventually! It's so hard to be mad at them when they get into trouble just because they were excited to see you.

hmmm, well, at least now you know Ellie is "bomb-proof"! lol...I can just picture how happy Ellie was to have made it to greet you at the door. Poor Mary, all her work undone! Please tell her I can commiserate...only with me, it was three cats that happily brought my tree crashing down (and then had the gall to happily lie in the middle of it on the floor "waiting" for me to come home so they could play hide and seek with me.) Now all my special ornaments go to work and are put in my office...everything on the tree is shatterproof. Ellie is definitely going to keep you two hopping! Enjoy her....lol...

Thanks for a LOL moment! You can borrow my cat, he lays under my tree to protect it from Wyn when she gets too close. Must be all the yrs he had to share the coveted spot w/ Zumba...now he wants the tree all to himself!

That's why our tree is very small and artificial and on a sheet music stand in a corner behind a chair. It is both greyhound and cat proof.
