Hello all, As first time greyhound adopters we were very excited to bring Tobie home last week. Things have been going very smoothly and housebreaking hasn't been a problem until a few days ago when she started peeing in her crate when left alone (even if she knows that we're at home). For instance, today was the third time that it happened and she was out for a bathroom break shortly before we left the house; we were only gone for 3 hours. We are guessing that it might have to do with separation anxiety; however, we are wondering if anyone else has encountered such a problem. If anyone has any suggestions, they are very much welcome and needed. Thanks, MnM

Here's some good reading on alone training, which is where you should start. She's never been alone before, so it's not unusual for a problem to crop up in the early days. She just needs a little training and some time. Alone training threads.

Thanks Angelollie and Campgreyhound! We've been doing some alone training and have found that leaving her alone outside of her crate has been much less stressful for her. No more peeing on her blankets! We're still limiting her time alone to avoid any possible destruction, but think that the crate may have been more anxiety-inducing than it is worth. We'll keep testing and trying new things until she's better adjusted.
Thanks for your help!
