We adopted Froggy this past weekend, and when I saw "Adopted" next to her name today I became uber excited. We have to wait a couple of weeks to bring her home ( backlog with vet), which means I'm antsy like a child on Christmas Eve! We are pretty much all set for her to come home, but it has been many many years since I've had a dog, and my boyfriend has never had one. I'm sure I'll be hitting up this site for tips and advice. It has already been a useful tool for us (we've purchased a crate, baby gate, elevated food dishes, beds, found dog walkers for mid day walks, lined up a vet, and are ready for the fleas - I'd rather they stay behind, but looks like they are coming along for the ride). We are still looking into food options and pet insurance at this point, but pretty much ready to go. The advice shared for others has been beneficial and initiated some interesting conversations about the 'rules' and who will do what and when ( I am doing the 5:30/6am walk and he gets the later morning walk ). So, only about 9 days to go

CONGRATULATIONS on adopting Froggy! And WELCOME to the forum!
You definitely have a long 9 days ahead of you...I remember that wait all too well! ;D Good luck with that part!
It sounds like you're using the time to prepare for Froggy's arrival home and will be all set.
Don't forget - pictures are mandatory! LOL

Congrats on adopting your girl. I had a hard time waiting 3 days to bring Finn home, two weeks would have made me nuts. LOL Looking forward seeing pictures.

Congratulations on adopting Froggy and welcome to the forum. She certainly is a cutie. As for waiting 9 days for your baby, it's going to seem like that day is never going to arrive, but it will sure be worth the wait. Looking forward to updates and photos ....

Congrats on adopting Froggy! We walked her a couple of weeks ago and she's absolutely awesome! I'm sure the wait will feel like forever, but soon you'll have her and you won't remember a time without her. Looking forward to the pics ;-)

Just had a peek - she's a pretty girl.
I would have Calypso Joe - the brindle close to the end of the list if I was in the market.
Love the name Calypso.

Congrats on the adoption! We had to wait 3 weeks for our Zuloo and other than waiting to go into labour, it was the longest 3 weeks of our lives

I actually volunteer at the kennel on Sundays and I always go out with Froggy on turn outs (cause she goes out alone because of her weak leg). She is such a greyt girl! I'm SO happy she found a home so quick. (P.S she has one of the most beautiful coats I have EVER seen!) What a beauty!

How Wonderful, Congratulations!!! Every time I log in, I take a look-see at all the hounds, and for the last week, for some reason, I end up looking at Froggy and thinking, "If this were the right time, I'd like to bring her home". She has such a sweet little face! And then I loggin in last night and saw the "Adopted" status and felt both elated but secretly, a little sad. I'm so, so happy for both you and Froggy and hope she settles in just fine!

Froggy is very pretty.
We'll need to see lots and lots of pics. So maybe you could charge up your camera and figure out how to post pics during your lonnnnng wait. ;D

Thank you all! Your comments have been heartwarming. My boyfriend , Darren, and I are bouncing off the walls. We both just want to bring her home. I do have to admit that this extra time is helpful to get prepared. We've been looking into food, and it's astounding how much crappy food is out there! We think we found a brand ( and Bill said others use it too), but it's nuts how bad most of the food is for your pet. The other interesting thing was her crate. Darren was awesome and put it together one night while I was out. Only problem, he put it together in the living room and it is too big to get through the bedroom door. It made me laugh. We will have to dismantle and make the move. Installing the baby gate should be interesting

The baby gate idea doesn't work here.... We have a baby gate on the top and bottom of our stairs (for our daughter) but Zuloo can get over it! Not so much the top one but definitely the bottom one!! And she much prefers the couch or our bed to her cage
