I purchased a 40pound box of chicken leg quarters, the things are frozen solid, I've been trying to get them unstuck, short of a sledge hammer it's gonna take 24 hours to get them to where they can be pried apart! I never considered this until I had it home and wanted to package it into smaller amounts

It can be a pain, but certainly cheaper to buy in bulk. There is no problem refreezing!

Just let it sit. Eventually you can take the first layer off, piece by piece, and bag it into reasonable numbers. That way it's all back in the freezer before it's thawed through.

it was a very nice deal, 1.49 pound for these leg quarters that are about a pound each..50 leg quarters in the box. The fellow gave me a couple pounds of pork ribs for the dogs as he loves dogs, he has backs and pork stomach I shall go back for next week.

You can thaw meat quickly and safely in cold water. It actually thaws meat faster than warm air or water and is less likely to allow other contaminents. Just be sure to keep in a waterproof wrap (like slideloc bag) with minimal air in it.
