I have been reading all I can about diatomaceous earth and I've read it is safe for human consumption. They describe lots of benefits for people who take it. They make it sound like a miracle! Improves your hair and nails, cleans your arteries, your colon, etc. I can only find information on websites of people who sell it. Does anyone know of any unbiased information out there? Does anyone out there reading this actually take it themselves? Thanks for your input.

there are two grades of DE - one is edible and one is not - (landscapers, slug control, etc.). - be sure you buy the correct one. Karen -Camp Greyhound on here - sells the dog version

I've used it on Summer for hookworms, in conjunction with Drontal Plus. But I've not taken it myself. I believe that the one Karen sells for the dogs is also of human grade. Check with her, she can tell you about it. Perhaps you can even find information on her Awesome-Paws website.

I take it in my morning smoothies, it's full of trace minerals and has no taste, which is awesome, and why it has so many good effects. I have used it on my pack for several years, as have many of my customers, with no ill effects. The most common negative thing I read about it (from those who are uninformed about it) is that it's bad for your lungs. This is the non-silica form, it has no silica hence no damage to the respiratory tract. More info can be found on the Permaguard site as well, just google for it. As Lisa says, be sure to buy the right stuff, you can find the wrong stuff and it's quite cheap, the good stuff costs more. There is a lot on the web about it, and we have some reading material on our forum as well - here's a 10 minute video by Earthworks, I think: awesomepaws.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=discussion&action=display&thread=23
