well, I'm out in Gagetown, New Brunswick for my sergeant's course (I'm a reservist with the CF) and I was missing my little houndie. Friday night I go out shopping with some of the guys, and guess what I see when we stop at the beer store... a greyhound! The Maritime Greyhound group (forget their official name) had two people with their greyhound and a sign collecting donations for the group. They laughed when I told them I was missing my greyhound, and let me pet and cuddle with their little girl as a substitute so I could get my greyhound "fix". My buddies just laughed and shook their heads, but I was sure this crowd would understand! My DH tried to get Velvet to make a noise when I called him last time, but she only does her yip/growl/rumble noise if she's in a really playful mood, so no luck! Anyways, thought I would just share with you all how pathatically attatched I am to my V

that's not pathetic you are just a very loving mummy who misses her little girl.
I was away from my boy Gordon for 3 days and when i was driving down the road i saw someone walking a greyhound so i hit the brakes, did a u turn and stopped to talk to the greyhound and it's humans ... luckily i was driving on a nearly deserted residential street or i would have had to loop around the block.

I believe that is a completely normal response.
Many years ago, I missed my rotweiler so much that I mauled a street dog in Belize to get my fix. In hind sight, the grey was probably a safer idea.
How much longer before you get your real fix?

I'm stuck out here untill I fly back on the third of June, but time will fly as I'll be in the field working my butt off and constantly being "assessed" as a patrol commander for the next week and a half!

I used to fly out to Banff to see my daughter and would be missing my hounds so much I would call home long distance to talk to them. So renrus ... not pathetic, just like rathma said, it's true love.

Been there!! I took a whole photo album of my pets with me to Hawaii!!! Yup, called home to say Aloha! to my pets. I wish all pet owners were as attached as you are to Velvet.

I rarely go away but when I do I think about my fur kids constantly. They are always happy to see me when I get home but I sometimes think I miss them far more than they miss me! I would love some sort of resort holiday that would accept cats, dogs & horses as guests as well as humans.

We were in New Brunswick a couple of years ago on vacation and Clay was with his Auntie Liz. We were driving down an old small highway when my kids screamed " they have greyhounds". That's not the worst of it the worst of it is I made my husband turn the van around just so I could see them. It made me miss Clay even more!!!!

Well thanks for eveyone's understanding, and now I'm home and have had my "fix" with Velvet. Now I'm just trying to book off this Sunday to see if I can make it to the picnic!

When we went away to Europe about a year after getting Kasey, hubby was homesick and missing him very badly. We were there during Fathers day, and Kasey's sitter sent us a fantastic email written from Kasey's point of view wishing him a Happy Father's Day and telling him about all the good things he was doing and how much fun he was having with his new grey friend, and how he missed mommy and daddy. It was so needed, and although it made hubby miss him even more, I think it was so nice to know everything was well in hand at home! I think missing these greys is a wonderful sign of true dog ownership and that they really do belong with the people they choose!

I was in Florida just the other week, for 4 days. You should have seen me hugging and loving on all the hounds at an Orlando greyhound adoption group! I soooo understand getting your fix. Of course, I would have packed up one in particular and brought her home... but I don't want a divorce in my future, LOL. He agreed to jewelry as it's "easier to get on the plane" so I'll have to settle for that. (for now!)
