So chase is home! finally!
he seems a little nervous, lots and lots and lots of heavy panting! no accidents yet, and no whining....he is such a good boy!
seems he's found some comfort in his crate, but i don't know how to get him to relax out of the crate.
any ideas?

Give him time and he'll settle into his new life. It's a big change for him so don't worry. You're off to a great start with no accidents or whining. I believe animals feed off our energy so if you're wound up and worried, he may pick up on that as well. I'd leave the crate door open and available for him to access at any time - it's a comfort to him obviously so if he likes it there, he'll go to it which is what he needs. Don't worry....he'll calm down with time Congrats on Chase! Jenn

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a great time at the picnic today, i'm so sorry i couldn't make it. I was really looking forward to it! Had a minor family emergency...not with chase...but had to take care of things here in hamilton.
Next event, I'm there!!

Welcome home Chase! Congratulations Jen (from yet another Jen! Ha ha) Like Jenn said, it will take time for him to become totally relaxed and comfortable. It's his first time in a home so everything is brand new. It's almost like having an adult puppy! Good Luck and if you have questions, there are some super folks on here who can help you out.

Hi this is greytfriend's 11 year old!!! That's greyt to hear that Chase adopted you. Give Chase some time and soon he'll fit in. Pet him alot and give him lots of praise for everything he does right. He will probably like some treats too, just don't overdue it or bride him. When we brought Dotty home she was having some heavy panting and seemed safe in her crate but a little nervous outside her crate but we pet and loved her and gave her some time and soon she fit in. I hope this helps and I wasn't just blabbering on about nothing. LOL to you and Chase. ;D ;D
