I was out of town yesterday so my dad pupsat Kawaii & my cat for me. While they were sitting out on the front porch together, nearby emergency vehicles came with sirens roaring. 2 police cars, a fire truck and at least one more emerg. vehicle, likely an ambulance. Anyways, the 4 sirens nearby got Kawaii's attention big time, and the next thing my dad knew she was rooing for all she is worth. Her head was tilted back and she was just howling away with the sirens! She's made noises, but never rooed that I know of. Darn! I missed her first roo! And yet again with no camera! I guess she is a "4 alarm" fire girl Lisa

That's too bad you missed it. I live 3 streets from the hospital ....bring her here and your camera and you won't have to wait long for the sirens. LOL

I wonder what she thought the sirens were saying? LOL
It's amazing how some dogs react to sirens. Even Minnie roos for sirens--with a mournful tone that's almost pitch-perfect.

If you live with a beagle or a foxhound you'll be sick of their roo-ing in a matter of minutes!!!!

Stormy (greyhound) and Yoda (Mala-mutt) make an interesting duet. Stormy with the hound bay and Yoda with the malamute howl. When they're bored, they like to sing together.

That's funny. We lived across from a hospital and the sirens never got more than perked earsies. Emily: try playing a video of other greyhounds rooing. My two are hard to get going by ourselves but if we get a video off youtube, they'll start singing along. Their favourite right now is this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfn_kp7h_pE&feature=related

Well I tried rooing myself (and she just looked at me funny - lol!). I've tried playing videos on Youtube of other greys rooing...but nothing. Her ears perk up and she tilts her head from side to side but no sounds! I'll try this one though. Maybe it will do the trick!

Try playing "Space Cowboy" or some Jan Arden - get's Katzar going every time and Brin and Zippadelli just join right in ~ personally I think it enhances the tunes! ;D

She was definitely interested. Her ears were way up but she didn't join in. Other videos have produced similar reactions. Rooing wasn't one of them.
