So, we had to put down Derby today.....it was very sad and it's just so hard to think for even a moment that maybe I didn't do the right thing. I think I know in my heart that I did. He struggled with very bad arthritic pain in neck and back for over two years now, needing a heavy dose of something every two months. This time it didn't work and he had two very restless nights filled with pain before we decided today that it was time. I didn't think I'd be able to handle being in the room with him, but it was very peaceful and I feel that we did him justice. I didn't think this would come so soon, having our Angel go to the bridge last April after a sudden stroke. We have one little boy Oggy left now who is going to be 9 in August and debating if we should get him a companion. Any thoughts? He seems anxious, but is sleeping and eating fine, but it's only been since this morning of course. I agree with the other posts here that it isn't just a "dog" you've lost, but a piece of you. You get to share your heart and home with these little ones for a short time and it often isn't enough. I'll miss his goofiness and exuberance and I miss Angle's rooing and food stealing antics. Thanks for listening.....I don't know how to insert an image yet.

We are so sorry that to hear about your loss. First little Angel and now Derby.
It is such a hard decision to have to make, and saying goodbye is even harder. Rest assured that you did all you could for Derby. He was a beautiful boy and so lucky to be part of your family. We feel for Oggy, I'm sure he misses his sister and brother.
Hugs to you both, and Oggy. Take care and keep your treasured memories close. You will know when the time is right to love another pup,

Sorry for your loss ...
I can't imagine how hard it is for you.
Just remember that now Angel and Derby are running around together and that now Derby isn't in pain.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. You question whether you should get another for your Oggy, I say YES, not just for Oggy but for yourself as well. Take care.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You gave Derby so much love and care when he came to join your family. Keep those memories close to your heart and remember he is pain free now and running with his sister, Angel. Hugs to you and your family and Oggy.

I'm so sorry! Take care of yourself, you'll know when and if the right time to adopt again comes around.. be it through Oggy's need or your own.

Sorry to hear about Derby. If you think it was time it probably was since you knew him best. Give a little time and see how it goes and how everyone adjusts.. Nothing wrong with getting a new dog quickly, and nothing wrong with waiting either.
feel better..
