I know she wasn't a grey, but I felt the need to pay tribute to her in some way.
I am posting here to acknowledge the passing of a sweet lil' pup that passed away today without ever knowing a home, a soft bed or the hugs that come from someone who loves them because they are theirs.
Today at the Humane Society where I volunteer, there was a cute and silly little female lab/boxer? X named Faith that passed away. She was full of life, living to play, give kisses, chase toys and chase her tail. In short, she was a good girl.
She came to the Humane Society as a stray with no known history. We could tell she was young, maybe 1 year old at the most. She passed the behaviour tests with ease and her period of observation for diseases were without incident.
She was the picture perfect image of a healthy young pup. Big brown eyes and a gorgeous unusual shade of almost white blonde that made her quite pretty despite her boxiness.
She was named Faith because of her positive attitude. She just beamed with joy, like she knew that someone, some day, the right person would come for her and take her home.
She had been in adoption only about 2 weeks, and it was her turn to be spayed. She went to the vet, and we heard at the shelter that it was a rough surgery. Some females do have a harder time than others, but they have always been okay...but not this time.
1 day after her surgery, there was a lot of unusual swelling and oozing. Basic treatment for infection wasn't helping. When they vets went in to see what was wrong, they were shocked - she was absolutely full of cancer. Her pancreas alone was 3/4 cancer and it had spread.
We got the news late today that little Faith was gone.
Please join me in wishing this little girl a swift journey to her forever playground where she will be greeted with all the love she deserves.
Rest in peace lil' Faith.
Lisa
