I'd like to start a reference list for recommended kennels/boarding houses for greyhounds. If you've had good expeiences with a boarder/kennel, and are willing to share that info, please do so here. I've asked the administrators if they could pin this announcement so it doesn't get lost in the archives.
Please list: - Boarder/Kennel name - Location - Cost/day - Phone # - email or webpage - special restrictions/requirements - Other comments
If you wish to add a recommendation to this list, please PM a moderator with the information. Thanks!

The Windam House 1100 Windham Road 7 Waterford, ON , N0E1Y0 (519) 443-0999
between Simcoe and Brantford $2 hour for day care $18 per 24 hours (discount rates for multi night stays)
All dogs must be up to date with vaccinations and be sociable. special feeding available. spa grooming on site.
$30 for a spa grooming for a greyhound best price i have found so far.
The dogs have a large half acre fully fenced (6 foot) run area or they can choose to lounge around on the HUGE over stuffed doggy beds if they want quiet time. there are usually at least 5 other doggys in daycare for your furry child to play with.
The owner is a great lady who treats all the dogs as if they were her own kids and she's very talkative and ready to learn more about your dogs personality and needs. there are lots of toys for them to get into and the other kids are all very nice and polite.
the facilities are impeccably clean and well maintained. discounts are offered to regular visitors and the best part is if you just want to come out and play with your kid in a fully fenced off leash area it's free of charge.
I highly recommend her as does my vet.

We have used the Lobo Animal Care Centre, which is about 15 minutes west of London. They are $18/day and less (I think $16/day ) for over a week's stay. They will clip nails for $5 as well. (woo hoo!)
The dogs have about a 4 x 5 foor pen area and they walk them twice a day, and weather permitting, they also have a doggy door.
Our very shy pup seems to take to the people there quite well, adn coem bakc to us in a "good mood" so they must treat her very well when we're gone.
I have seen a few other greyhounds there at Christmas. They are good about noting that Barkley walks with her own leash and needs a coat etc. etc.

We have 3 dogs and we use "Country Paws" outside of London. The nice thing is that all three can spend the night in the VIP suite so they are never alone or split up. The dogs get plenty of exchttp://www.countrypaws.com/ercise and there is a pool where they can swim. For a little extra the staff will take them on a nature walk. The website is; www.countrypaws.com/ . They have openned up shop in Kitchener. Definately worth the addition funds.

CAMP GREYHOUND
Location: Innisfil (15 min. south of Barrie; 50 min. north of Toronto; 10 min. east of 400) Cost: $30 /day (overnight); $180 /week Phone: 705-812-1533 or 416-907-3290 e-mail: campgreyhound@awesome-paws.com web: awesome-paws.com
Food: provide your own (kibble or raw) or arrange to purchase raw through Awesome-paws
Remember going to camp as a kid? You only missed your parents when you were bored. Well, four resident greys, a few cats and animal-loving humans take care of that! At Camp Greyhound your grey's stay will be comfortable, fun and sometimes even exciting (remember how much fun it was to play with a gang). Your dog will be well cared for and have a blast and you can relax and enjoy your vacation knowing that when you arrive to pick him up, the ears will be up and the tail wagging (and all of you will have made friends for a life-time).

I have heard great things about Country Paws as well though I've never boarded Daisy anywhere. If anyone would just like a home setting for their pup while they are away Daisy and I would be happy to help. It would be nice company for Daisy. (there's a little bit of room left on the couch)

Any one know of a good kennel/doggy day-care near the Delta East in Toronto? We are going to stay there July 25 and 26, and can have Caliloka with us, but when we go to the Zoo and Niagra Falls she cant come so we need somewhere for her to go for that Saturday? Thanks <3 Brandy & Caliloka

My parents use Whirl Farms ("Country Club for Pets") near London (Arva) for their dog and cat and they're always happy to go and happy to come back. They never come back with too much food or with any strange cuts, sores or marks. Their dog is a highly energetic lab and he always comes back tired! www.countryclubforpets.com/

Thank you for the receommendation. I will look into it. Also wondering if there is anyone in the London area that would be interested in dog-sitting for us. We have only had Arrow since May and we have never left her. She is a sweet gentle girl. But we still supervise her with our cat.

Another good one in St. Thomas/Aylmer area is the Pet Ranch just east of Aylmer. Our Summer has stayed there when Country Paws is full and he loves it. They are familiar with greys. Wanda

We took Sassy to Country Paws kennel for a 4 night stay. We opted for a basic suite to keep it simple for her. I supplied her food, blanket and coat due to the weather. The staff was very friendly and I felt comfortable leaving her with them. You fill out a questionnaire so they get an idea of the dog's personality and their interaction with others. When we picked her up, they told us that she spent her time with the larger quieter dogs.By chance some greys were also there during her stay which was great for her. We will definitely consider using them again if needed. Jodie & John

WATCH OUT FOR THIS PLACE Croft Kennels between Fisherville and Hagersville
i called them about boarding Gordie there when i was in the moving transition. they seemed nice enough on the phone so i went down to check it out as they said they had experience with greys and the price was right.
the place looked nice enough from the outside ... noone was there though and after waiting for an hour still noone turned up. I went to the house and a young man showed me in to the kennel.
At one glance inside warning bells were going off in my head. i asked him what crate they used for the greyhounds and he pointed out a 4 foot deep 6 foot long chain link crate with concrete floor and said they usually fit two greys in there at a time. I was horrified.
sure there was a 12x12 outdoor run attached to the "crate" but what Gray has use for that in the winter ... the young man went on to tell me that the door to the run was left open all the time so the dog could come and go as it pleased but, the entrance was open to the weather.
call me paranoid but i think Gordie would have froze to death there.
There was also a strong ammonia odor and constant barking.
i asked about walks and found out noone was there during the day but the dogs were "free to use the outdoor runs(concrete)"
might just be me but I got a bad vibe from the place and wound up paying the extra cash to board him with The Windham House his usual daycare provider

Just wanted to report on a boarding kennel that we tried. It is called At Merithot Kennels (http://www.atmerithot.com/index.html). We live in the north of London so this is very close for us (down fanshawe towards Lobo - see the website)
I checked it out before hand and found it very clean (no smell of any kind) and you have a choice of regular kennels, but separate from that there are also 4 'suites' available. The suites are separated from the regular kennel (quieter) and they have heated underground floors - very toasty for my girl. Also, each dog, whether kennel or suite, gets alone time in their pet lounge - to help get them away from any barking for about 30 minutes each day. While I was there play time was on - staff are in the yard with the dogs during that time. It is not too big - there is 4 suites and appeared to be about 12 kennels so not a huge operation (nice!).
The suites are not all that big, but they of course have access to the oustide (weather permitting) from 7 am to 11 pm. But the heated floor got me - you can tell it is toasty there. Also the pet lounge was very nice - comfy couch with a lookout to the yard. Country walks ae $5 extra.
For a 4 night stay and a bath and nail trim it was $101.40 - quite reasonable in my view. The owners have afgan hounds so that is nice. No problems with our raw food or giving our girl her antibiotics. We would use them again if we have to go out of town.
