Hey all!
Greg and I are moving at the end of next month. We know what to expect with the cats (chaos and misery) and I have spent most of my worrying on them. But, it has just crossed my mind that maybe greys do not like to move either!!! Does anyone have any stories (good or bad) or advice so that I can have a better idea of what to expect?

When we moved our guys (twice), we waited until the last trip to move them in. By the time they arrived at the new house, we already had their beds in the places we wanted them. Ours walked in and because their smells were already there, they were settled by that night. I stayed home with them for a couple days just to let them settle before I headed back to work. I would never move them first. The place is new and, if you have multiple trips to make, it's probably not the best idea to leave them unattended Good Luck!

Once we are close to packed Greg will bring the boxes is your place. There's lots of good stuff in there, we just never use it (ie rice cooker, hair straightening iron, books and games...).

Wonderful - thanks. If it is too much for Greg to bring or is easier I can swing by and pick everything up.

When we moved with Meeka (my second grey) we made a point of taking her to the house on several occasions prior so she could explore. We let her play in the yard and we also wandered the neighbourhood with her and her siblings so she could get comfortable and mark her territory. Then, when we actually made the full move, we placed her in one room during the process, and then wandered around the house with her as she explored again. No problems - she immediately took to owing her new home!

No problems moving with Digby either. We got possession of the house a couple weeks before moving in so he was brought over once to explore and was fine. during the moving process he stayed with family, i believe. i was actually out of town for the first few days he was here but hubby says digby was fine and not stressed out.
One thing though, do you know if the current owner has a dog? regardless, it might be a good idea to give your dog a good walk to empty his bladder before letting him go free in the house in case he decides to mark!
good luck on moving day!

This is my main concern. Chevy is a marker and we had LOTS of problems with marking and house training. I am really hoping Chevroski behaves like an angel in the new place...I think I will utilize the belly band right from day one and slowly give him freedom...

if you're ever in burlington i have an almost full bag of those puppy pad things to put on the floor. our old dog went through a pee phase towards the end so we tried the pads but she never used them.. though this may not really help him from marking...
come to think of it, anyone who wants them can have the doggy floor pads if you want them! i think we only used 2-3 from the bag. just let me know.
