So I have had Chase for about 7 months now, and of those 7 months, 5 have been living in a one bedroom apt. where he is home alone during the day for about 4-5hrs....sometimes less, sometimes more. He gets about 4 walks a day, 1 being about 45 mins long.
At first he was fine, good boy, no accidents in the house. Then it turned into whenever i left in my car to go somewhere i'd come home to somewhere in the house he's peed...and it's not a big pee, just a marking kind of pee. And now it's progressed to the point, whenever i leave the house he marks on something.
I don't really know what to do...I know it's not a medical thing, and I can't ever catch him in the act. How do i teach him that i will always come back for him?? or how do i keep him busy so he doesn't keep marking my white furniture... (thank god for washable slipcovers)?? Any one have any ideas???
Thanks Jen

IMHO, It sounds like you may have to do some separation anxiety exercises. Do you have a copy of Greyhounds for Dummies? I used one or 2 of the techniques found it that book and it helped alot! Also, there is alot of great info on Greytalk.com. Until this is all over, you could use belly bands so that your furniture does not have to suffer. I have 5 belly bands b/c Chevy had a bit of the "attitude pee" himself - it was hard to re-bellyband him when the first one was still wet! Good luck! ps. It wouldn't hurt to get a pee sample checked out just in case it is a medical problem...you probably want to rule that out 100% before any further training

Start over with potty training and alone training. Like a refresher course for him. Contact Sue, one of the Gigi's mom's on here, about a belly band. If he's being naughty but is healthy, then it's behavioural. Belly Bands are a greyt way to make them change their minds about peeing in the house.

I dont' mean to sound like a total grey amateur...but all we did to potty train chase was make a schedule...and reward him at first....he took to it very very fast! Should i just start doing that again...reward him when he pees outside?
