Has anyone had any problems with a Grey biting another dog? I would appreciate any advise on this. Does anyone muzzle them when you walk them every time? I don't want to have to do that but Shuffle is aggressive to some dogs. Valerie is fine and is friendly, she goes through the routine of sniffing, tale wagging and wants to play but he is very nervous. When He is muzzled he is fine and more relaxed, is this normal? Could it be he was attacked at some point in his life?

Some dogs have a prey drive that generalizes to all breeds (it does not usually indicate that they were attacked since they are not exposed to other breeds while racing, as far as I know). Orion is one of those special kids. He's good with Greyhounds only. Anything else is fair game in his mind, even Whippets. Since I've dealt with offleash attacks before, I always err on the side of caution and do not allow dogs to approach ours or ours to approach others. You can work on his behaviour by calming it somewhat... offering treats while in the presence or nearing another dog. One of the hardest things is to stop yourself from getting anxious. The last time we were attacked was in the end of August and I still get strained (heart races, hard to breathe) when a dog on a leash approaches on the opposite side of the street. They most certainly sense that and react.

I have no answers for solomiya but I will not let ANY dog sniff my lab's back end, he has never biten but he freaks. I also err on the side of caution when introducing my dogs to other dogs. I take my cue from them. Their is a lady who walks a dog the same time as I do in the morning who wants to introduce hers to mine. I won't let it happen. Ty and Remy get very upset when this dog is around, ears slicked back, hair standing up, no tail wagging. Yet they have been introduce to a daschund (who likes to lick my guys) that is walked the same time in the afternoon and if we don't stop and say hi my guys get upset and whine. Also could the relaxed behaviour with the muzzle be because that is what is known to him? Do you walk your guys in the same place all the time? I have found my guys are more "on guard" when we walk some place new. Could just be my crazy boys they are definitely OCD. LOL!! But I was wondering, has anyone's dogs ever gone into pack mode (circling the other dog, protecting the other) when a stray dog comes up? I often wonder what my guys would do if they thought the other was in danger from a dog? Do not want to experience it though. Dog mentality it is soooo cool I love learning more!

Icon is 2 1/2 and while not agressive to other dogs, he stands up tall and looks watchful when large dogs approach...BUT if another dog approaches my little retriever, who's 14 months, he very definitely puts himself between her and the other dog and warns the other dog with his eyes. I'm very sure that he would fight with any dog that bothered her. At home, they sleep cuddled up together on the same bedding..she's Icon's nose-warmer and she makes sure that he always has an assortment of toys to play with. It seems to me that greys are happiest with dog-company because his transition was quick and easy.
