Last Thursday, my wife and I took home Lady Gaga, who is still Gaga. She's learned so much in the short time that she's been with us! She jumps into the car like a champ. She goes up the front stairs of the house with no fuss. She's getting alone fine with the cat, by which I mean she's been whining when she sees the cat, and hides behind us. Still, I found them in my bedroom yesterday, with the cat on the bed, and Gaga on the floor, both quiet and relaxed. Gaga also ignores cats and other small wildlife outside, so both of them are acclimatizing to each other and getting alone. Poor Gaga's terrified of the side steps, so we haven't taken her into the basement yet, which makes that the exclusive domain of the cat. She's had a couple of naughty moments, which is ok, because it means she's starting to show more of her personality. Sunday, she grabbed a bag of brewer's yeast off the countertop and started chewing on it. Yesterday, while I was dishing out dinner, she stole a sausage and tried to run for it. We got it back, and I almost died laughing after telling her off. I've also started making her some home cooked food to mix with her kibble - found ground beef on special, and found a big bag of $2 beef kidneys at a local meat packer's. I made it with about 45% meat, 5% organ, 50% sweet potatoes+carrots. I'm going to see if I can find her some green tripe around here. Her ongoing album

Thanks for all the positive remarks. Any suggestions for vets in the western half of Toronto would be great. The medical practitioner discussion thread hasn't been updated in a while.

Congrats on your new girl. She is a beauty. Enjoy all of these first moments with her, even if she has a sausage in her mouth. I totally understand how you laughed after getting the sausage back. The look on her face must have been priceless.

Congratulations on bringing your beautiful girl home and welcome to the forum. You will have many laughs over the silly things GaGa does as she learns to adapt to her new environment. Those first few months are the best .....

"I'm going to see if I can find her some green tripe around here." If you are in or near London pm me. The store I work at carries a couple varieties of green tripe .

Poor Gaga. Last night, on our walk, she had a run in with the business end of a paving stone. Neighbour had them stacked next to the sidewalk.
There was a fair bit of blood, but fortunately, it was not in a place she could lick. We could put some Polysporin on it. Got to invest in a doggie first aid kit.
