For the past two years since I had the honor of taking in Nik and Raz, we've had the worst time getting their dandruff under control. Especially Nik who is black! Now please don't laugh at me, I'm sure lot's of you knew this already, but for me, the light bulb just went on! I bathed them both yesterday with Nizoral!!! Holy Hannah, what a difference, like black and white in difference! (ha, get it?) Nik is black, Raz is white! Anyway, I will bathe them again next week. I did not realise the Nizoral was an anti fungal shampoo, killing the fungas that breeds dandruff. So, that's my exciting news. M

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this recommendation! It seems so common sense I'm going to try this same shampoo for little Teia (her dandruff is quite bad as well and detracts from her beautiful coat), and see how it works! Wonderful suggestion M !!!

I've had Nizoral prescribed for me and it's great stuff.

I feed coconut oil to my gorgeous shiny black boy and also pet him regularly with the oil still on my hands. He is dandruff free now but the Nizoral is a greyt tip! Thanks for sharing it!

I also give Sally about a tablespoon of coconut oil every morning - it makes her coat so smooth!! She still tends to get a bit flaky so thanks for the Nizoral suggestion!
On a side note: I was recently in the pet store and was looking for shampoo for Sally. Burt's Bees has a new shampoo and conditioner line for dogs so I bought them. OMG it was THE WORST!! I'm meticulous when rinsing her in the tub. The day after the bath she was crying, scratching and biting herself like crazy!! She was dandruffy all over!! I gave her a bath in Oxymed and she was so much better afterwards.

ouch! that is not cool! Burt's Bees is so highly thought of but apparently Sally didn't think so. Hope she's feeling better!
