Positive thought & prayers sent Oni's way. Please let us know how the appt with the vet went. Hugs to you - waiting is the hardest part.

Re: not being comfortable with your vet: Where are you?? If we knew where you live I'm sure someone could recommend a vet in whom they have confidence.
Before you go, write down all your concerns and information on the progression of the lump so you won't forget anything important.
Positive thoughts heading your way.

Thanks everyone. Luvastorm, we're living in London, but we're out of town in Sarnia so we went to one here this time. They were pretty great about everything.
So they did an x-ray of the "bony protrusion" and it isn't showing the bone degeneration that would make them pretty sure it's a tumor. They said it still could be an early stage tumor that just isn't showing damage to the bone yet, or it could be caused by a fracture (fingers crossed). They gave us medication for inflammation and now we just wait and watch to see if it gets bigger or smaller. If it gets smaller, we don't have to worry about it being a tumor, if it gets bigger, we'll have to get a biopsy.
More waiting before we have an answer, but there's lots of hope so that's awesome.
I'll update you when we know more!
Take care everyone!
Abby

So glad you have some hope with this new vet (it's like being able to catch your breath). We're all hoping here for a wonderful prognosis for Oni ... big hugs to your girl and your family.

Ok, here's an update:
No change in either direction... still no apparent pain, no behavioural differences. She seems happier than ever. We're supposed to keep icing it and waiting for a change.

I know it's been a few years since I posted about this. I wanted to post an update anyway in case anyone else runs across anything similar. Oni turned out to be fine... the lump eventually went away with time, ice, and rest. I'm thinking it must have been a sprain or a fracture. In retrospect, the vet wasn't very good. We've had two other emergencies over the past few years with the support of a fabulous vet. We've learned what to look for in a good vet! Belated thanks to everyone for your support and positive thoughts!
