My boy Fred does this and thought he was the only one. I'm a little worried that he "needs" a bush or tall grass to poo once winter hits with snow so am trying to get him out of the habit but hasn't worked out yet.

You could always get Fred an artificial plant for the winter months ... the Dollar Store has quite the variety.

I actually tried the fake plant thing for trying to get him to pee in the backyard (had a plant with a pee post stuck in it) but he wouldn't do it. I even tried walking by it around 10-15 times. He won't even poop in the back area where there are a few bushes. He has to walk a bit before he'll go. Oh well. He's going to have to learn eventually.

Booker is also a dump-trucker. Although he doesn't seem to need a plant, he certainly seems happier if he's got one. The past few he's deposited have been like ninja-poops - there is no visible trace of any poop, as it's fallen through the leaves. I feel a little weird rummaging around in the bushes with a doggie bag, but so be it!

O.M.G. this thread is too funny...ninja poops LOL. Wyn was introduced to the lake earlier this summer...the water was abit chilly...I went out as far as I could w/ shorts on, she continued to wade out abit further, high stepping and head and tail held high. I called out to her when she got to the end of her leash, she turned around and dropped her tail in the water 'by accident'...she looked @ her soaked tail w/ quite the suprised look on her face, then proceeded to not poo, but pee in the water *whoops* can't clean THAT up. Then she came out of the water, on to a huge, empty beach...sand as far as the eye could see...except of course for a large chunk of driftwood that someone had obviously used as a seat for a beach bonfire. Before I could convince her to choose a better spot, she hopped up on the wood, hunched over and pooped right on top. It wasn't quite pudding poop, but it was pretty soft. It was a windy day too, so sand blew all over it, creating a doggie version of a sand castle The sand did make it a bit easier to clean up, but there was still some evidence left behind I didn't laugh then, but around the campfire that night, everyone had a good laugh when the story was told! She also chooses ornamental grasses to back up too sometimes...usually on our late night walk, so now I carry a little flashlight to make sure I get it all!
