Hello there - not sure how many of you folks are on the forum that adopted 10 years or so ago. I adopted my beautiful Carson, in 2003. He was the light of our lives, until he sadly had to leave us yesterday, with many issues, related to age, cancer in particular that made going on too hard for him. He was a skittish, neurotic big dog when we brought him home, but grew into a sociable, funny, loving animal that stole all our hearts. We appreciated a talk with Bill a couple months in, that made us not give up. I'm sure he would not remember now, but Carson's journey was a tremendous reward, and his passing has left a tremendous hole in our hearts, but wonderful memories too. Greyhounds are so special, I will always encourage other to take this journey.

My sincere condolences on Carson's passing. Bless his sweet soul for all that he gave to you ... his inner strength in becoming sociable and funny, his deepest emotion and companionship to you, and his forever love to his family. And Bless you for giving to him the best of life in his retirement. I see Carson was from the Hinsdale days ... I too had greyhounds from that era as well.
Godspeed sweet boy Carson ....

I'm so sorry. I'm glad you stayed the course and Carson adjusted to a wonderful retirement. I too had several Hinsdale hounds; one--Back Kick Beth (Betsy)--is still with me.
Godspeed Carson.

So sorry for you loss of Carson. Bless you for sticking it out and ultimately giving him everything he could have ever wanted or needed. It sounds like he blossomed into a wonderful companion, and friend.
Keep recommending these gentle souls as you know more than a lot of people know how wonderful they are. Carson sounds like a perfect example of a boy who just needed to find you to help him to become such a special friend. Gods speed Carson

As I write there are two Hinsdale boys sleeping by my feet, Andy and Bailey, both 13. They may have been kennel mates with your boy Carson.
I'm so sorry you lost your boy. I wish you peace and comfort in the coming days, it's so very hard when they go, especially the ones that take that extra time to settle in.
Run free sweet boy, with all our grey angels at the bridge. You're in good company.

Carson enriched your life dearly and you did for him. I think your bond was even greater as you both worked though the challenges and he blossomed into a happy loving dog. That must have been so rewarding! You where very lucky to have him.
I had a Hinsdale pup who I just recently lost at 11 1/2, he was my heart dog. I know what you are going through but I thank god every day for bringing him into my life. I know you feel the same about Carson.
Rest in peace Carson.

My deepest condolences extended to your family. What a blessing that Carson came into your life all those years ago and with your love and encouragement he blossomed into the magnificent hound you described. Take comfort in knowing you did everything you could for him for throughout the years and he lived to a ripe old age. Take care of yourself during these difficult days.

Thank you all so much for your kind words, these first couple days are more of a struggle than I ever imagined. I think many of us have experienced such feelings, the guilt of did I wait too long, or let him go to soon, and how will my heart ever heal from this horrible pain. Hearing from others who understand the deep bond we had, sure helps. Thank you so much.

You are so right, there are many of us that have experienced all of the emotions that you feel now and the ones you will feel as you continue to mourn. You are going through so much without the feelings of guilt, even though it is completely natural to feel this way as you go through the steps of grieving. Try to remind yourself that you did everything in Carsons best interest. You gave him so many wonderful years of love, patience, care and fun. I'm sure if Carson could, he would tell you how much he loves you and Thank you for everything you did for him from beginning to end. Take care of yourself. I feel your pain.

It is never the right time to say "Good-Bye". Carson knew how much you loved him and it was also hard for him to say Good-Bye, but he is now free from pain and is watching over you from the Bridge. You gave him so much love and understanding throughout the years and he was so grateful for your patience that made him the loving boy he was. Rest In Peace Sweet Carson.

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure that Carson's lovable character thrived because of the love and patience you gave. His life, though never long enough, was made whole in your care.
Wishing you solace in Carson's memories, and in the knowledge that his love is your's forever... his spirit will be with you always.
Godspeed dear fellow.
