This is Missy. AKA RLM's Monterey. We picked her up 3 weeks ago today and she's been getting really comfortable in our house. Our apartment building is a U shape with a fenced in courtyard in the middle so sometimes we let Missy run around off-leash during off peak hours. She's been super nice with all the other dogs and we've even visited a dog park (though she stayed as my little shadow most of the time). Yesterday she saw her first cat. It was kind of funny. In the same courtyard, a cat was casually walking home. Missy froze. The cat froze. And all of a sudden it darted past her into an open patio door. Missy, of course, went with it. The owner was really surprised to see a 60 lbs dog hurtling through his living room at full speed. But surprise for Missy - the floors are laminate! The poor thing looked like Bambi on ice. The cat got away by going up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Missy's still scared of indoor stairs, though she'll take the outside ones. She didn't bark or growl, just sat patiently at the bottom of the steps looking at the cat. Luckily the owner was really nice about letting her walk around and sniff - she took her time getting out of his house. This is her 'I was a bad girl' face

Ooops!
Glad both kitty and Missy survived the ordeal. I've had dogs Bambi (Betsy on the hardwood), and race up stairs that they couldn't handle (Cal) while trying to meet a cat, so I have a _very_ clear picture of what occurred or could have. ;D

Missy is gorgeous and I love her very black muzzle. Her ordeal, which turned into an adventure, was quite funny ... I can just imagine the home owner's surprise with seeing a full grown greyhound racing into his home .... glad both houndie and kitty were okay.

That was an interesting experience huh? Glad the home owner was so good about it and that the cat didn't get attacked.
Not so long ago one of mine decided she was going to go through an open front door, must have been Ruby - home owner NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL, but I thought it quite amusing!
An open door is after all an open invitation!

I wish I could have seen his face when she raced into the house. That is one big dog to run into your house. So glad it all turned out so well. Congrats on your pup.
