We looked everywhere for large crates for our 2 big guys. There were no used ones on kijiji that were big enough either. We ended up finding these at Costco.ca. We called our local Costco and they do not carry them there. The website is great....you can pay with credit card and they even have free delivery and shipping! www.costco.ca/Dogit-2-Door-Wire-Home-Crate-Series.product.10360811.html

The Costco crate looks good to me. They have good stuff on the website.
Have you checked if anyone on the forum has one you can use or buy? Campgreyhound also rents them.
Not sure how long you'll need the crates. With my guys they where gone in a few weeks. Josh has been home 2 weeks now and he hardly uses it now. He goes in and out sometimes when he's not comfortable with something. I'll give him a few more weeks and then it's gone.
You might also want to invest in a baby gate to block off certain areas. Walmart is good for that. I've blocked off one of my rooms and access to the upstairs while Josh is getting used to the place and to monitor any washroom mistakes.
Getting excited to see Charles and OshKosh at home.

Thanks Troysmom! Yes we checked the forum and there was a couple but they didn't get back to us. Where does Josh sleep? We are not sure where they will be sleeping yet. We are going to be moving in 2 months so we will need the crates for the adjustment presumably. This is all new to us so, we figured just buy some and if we don't need them after a while we can always sell them too.

That sounds like a good plan and your well prepared.
My boys all sleep upstairs in our bedroom. They come up and get a nighttime treat and then they all settle on one of the multiple beds in our bedroom. I put two beds together with an old comforter on top and they love it. Sometimes they sleep side by side, so cute.
For Josh I took a chance and just took him to our bedroom without a crate. Mind you I already had a greyhound to help him adjust. He paced for a few hours and kept looking at himself in the mirror LOL and checking everything out. He settled rather quickly and that was it. Every grey is different so you'll have to feel the waters since you are bringing two new guys home together.
The Costco stores have excellant dog beds for a good price. Most of us here on the forum have them. Go check it out if you already haven't purchased. The ones on the website are more expensive I find.

greysrbeauties .... As Troysmomm said, if it is possible, it is best to have the hounds sleep in the same room at night with you. Usually they settle very quickly if they know you are near. Remember, this is all so new to them. It is like bringing a puppy home only it's in a grown body.
And if you need the large dog beds I have two you are more then happy to have. They are from Costco and are in good shape (I just bought all new ones with bolsters for my guys). Right now, Costco only has the round beds .... I prefer the rectangle ones as it gives the hounds more room.

I like the idea of having them in the room with us. It's a cute family unit. We hope it all works out well. We also saw nice dog beds at Walmart actually for a reasonable price. This is all so exciting!! THank you for the dog bed offer angelollie!!

I would also recommend you have the dogs in with you in your bedroom. I know some people don't like to do this, but I think it's kinder to the dogs and all of my greyhounds (4 over a period of years) have been with me in my bedroom. Plus 2 lurchers (not all at the same time!). I feel that I've brought them into my home and therefore I want to make them at home and happy, and my hounds are very happy to be in the same room as me. I bought a 2 seater cane sofa, 2nd hand, and that has gone down a treat. Before I had that I tried a toddler bed made by Mamas and Papas but I think it was slightly too narrow for a hound body and that didn't get the seal of approval. The sofa is loved so much that one hound will be on it all night and the other hounds is on the kingsize with me, before that both of them were on my bed which could be a bit of a squeeze. The hound that starts the night on the sofa is almost never the hound that is there in the morning, so obviously Ruby and Lottie have a deal that they share both the best beds in rota fashion! Jack also has 'bed priviledges'! But photobucket won't let me load that pic. Let's try this instead .... s850.photobucket.com/user/lewishc/media/Ruby%20AND%20Lottie%20together%20from%20June%202011/grandmawhatbigearsyouvegot.jpg.html?sort=3&o=117

We are also new grey owners and our Raj came home from Bill's on Feb. 7. We still have Raj's crate up, but he no longer uses it. We have a big crate which we got at a local pet store (not a chain). Not sure if any stores can order in what you need. He also has a bed in our family room and one in our bedroom. He usually chooses the bed where he has company during the night. Our bedroom, unless my husband falls asleep watching t.v. Lol! Now that he is settled in and has mastered the stairs, Raj chooses what he is most comfortable with. He is no longer crated during the day and we do use a baby gate to block off our downstairs rec room which leads to the furnace room where kitty food and litter is kept. Lots of affection, patience, gentle guidance and taking the time to "listen" to your houndies' needs will help them settle in to their new family! Kathryn

We got a "giant" crate for our male, McGinn, at TSC. It's huge and he has enough room to stand with his head almost fully extended. The great thing is we got it on sale a few weeks ago for $90, which is better than we could find on Kijiji. Normally it sells for $139.99. Here's the link: www.tscstores.com/GIANT-DOUBLE-DOOR-KENNEL-CRATE-P2512.aspxAs for sleeping arrangements, McGinn was sleeping on the upstairs landing for the first week but then he discovered that he could sneak in between us in bed at night. Now that we're planning on bringing home a 2nd greyhound though, two greys and two humans in a queen sized bed just won't work. We will be putting their own beds on the floor in our room.

That's funny, I was just about to put a link up to TSC stores lol. They don't have one in Niagara, but there is one in Simcoe and in Grimsby. Might be worth it to check across the border too!
