My Girl Millie It has taken much longer than usual for me to put a proper memorial post together for my little girlie. I suppose partly because of the shock, but also she was so very close to me. It's been a rough year here for losses. For those who don't know, Millie was 8 years old and passed away on Dec. 7. We had to send her to the bridge quite suddenly due to Osteosarcoma which had been masked by corns. I remember the first time I met Millie, she came camping not long after she'd been adopted into her first home. She was a well equipped camper, and came with her own raincoat, Ugg boot, and bed among other things. That first visit she was flirtatious and playful, with a touch of clown thrown in for good measure. She had a great time with the other hounds, and really enjoyed running and digging. She came for more visits to camp, and then one day I got an email from her wonderful parents, saying they thought she was unhappy and that although it would break their hearts, would I take her. They thought she'd be happy with me. I had just adopted the queen of all broodies, Connie (Devie's Concord, and back in those days I thought one more would be too much. [Now of course, I know better]. In any case, I knew how hard it would be for them to take her back to Bill's, so I offered to do that for them. I knew she'd be picked up in a flash. As I walked away from the barn, I almost turned back to get this enchanting girl, but didn't. She was adopted within a few days, and I kept in contact with her new home. Four months later, her 2nd set of owners contacted me to say they were returning her. I arranged with Bill to keep her here at Camp Greyhound and work on her corns, and introduce her to a family that had just lost their girlie. Bill agreed, and Mille came for an extended stay, and during that time it became clear that she was home for good with me. To this day Bill says I stole her lol. Really what happened was she stole my heart. I could easily write a book of stories about Millie, she was such a character. On the back deck in the sun Rolling on the ground, Running Cuddling with romi With andy Clowning it up My beautiful unforgettable girlie, I will always love you. Millie (Djays Over Haul) April 9 2004- Dec. 7 2012

Karen, I'm so sorry for your loss. Millie was a beautiful girl and you gave her an amazing life. You just have to look at her in the pictures to see how happy she was. She sure picked a great home to retire in. My Bella and her are playing together at the bridge.

Hi Aunty Karen: We remember Millie from our stay at camp. You are so right she was always very playful and teaching us and all the other campers at the time how to dig holes. We will miss her when we come back to Camp Greyhoud. Rest in Peace and free from pain sweet Millie. Gable and Liza
Karen, I can only say how sad we are for your loss and our heart aches for you - she had the best home any grey could ask for - lots of love from you and Michele and all of her brothers and sisters and she knew that. It is so hard to say "good-bye" but we will all meet again. Run free sweet Millie.

I'm so sorry. Millie had a wonderful life with you--once you wised up and stole her--but it wasn't nearly long enough.
Godspeed Millie.
