Wonderful. None of my greys have ever used their crate. They all did one night in it and then we moved on quickly. We have never had a mess in the house and we have used other methods to show them who the bosses are. They are all different so best of luck feeling your way through this. It sounds to me like you are both figuring it out.

Hi, we have had Owen home for nearly 2 months now, and the only issue we (he) is having at this point is total destruction in his crate. He is rarely home alone (well never truly alone as his furry brother is here) but due to our schedules either my husband or myself is usually here. When we do both go out, we have been crating Owen. Although he has not messed in the house and so far has only chewed on toys and a few blankets, I guess I figured it was safer for him. There is (was) a nice soft bed in there, some toys, and I usually have a kong with peanut butter or something else for him as well. Each time we come home his bed is chewed, and the entire thing is soaked. On Sunday it was the worst - the bed was shredded - had to throw it out. I figured you guys always have great advice - I looked up this thread, and it sounds to me like Owen is just trying to tell me he's had enough with the crate already! Yesterday we left the dogs alone with free roam of the house for about an hour, and there were no issues whatsoever. I suppose I will leave the crate up for now just in case, but he has never gone in it on his own, I guess I'm a little surprised. I don't think he has separation anxiety, just crate anxiety!

As per my previous post my last two boys wanted nothing to do with the crate once they came home. I always had more then one dogs so gave them free range, no issues. They just didn't want the crate anymore!

So a few days after my post, we left the guys alone for a few hours. I'm pretty sure when we got home we woke him up - he was still on his pillow, and was looking at us like "what the hell!! home so soon??" I hope this lasts!
