well my first greys name is WWs Servingtime - at Bills he got the name Server and it kind of stuck so he stayed Server.
my second grey is named WJS Flash Fire - at Bills he got the name Flash ... it stuck for a while but when I think of the name Flash i think Flash Gordon, that got shortened to Flash Gordie and eventually I just started calling him Gordon or Gordie.

completely new names for both of our dogs! chevelle was 'KB's Air Ranger' and was known as Ranger at GRA. my hubby's favourite muscle car is a 1972 Chevelle SS, so the muscle-y dog was renamed Chevelle! he had no trouble 'learning' his name i'd say. serry was named a few things while at the rescue- a few: lacey, lady, lady dianna... blech. it was a series of odd coincidences that led me to her so we named her serendipity. she's a smart little cookie and picked up her name quickly as well.

Velvet's call name was Gal for Primo Gal, which DH and I didn't think suited such a cute little princess and we also just didn't really like the name, so after he commented that she was "as soft as velvet" well, the name sort of stuck. She seemed to figure it out after a day or two.

My boy's name is currently John Cena, but that is a WWF wrestler. I don't like it at all and he doesn't respond to it. Or any variation of John.
Phoenix seems to fit him well and seems appropriate because of the symbolism.

Gable Rasputin was renamed Raz, and then KIowa ThorN, was renamed NIK. I was really amazed at how quickly they picked up their names, within a few short days.

Ruby's racing name was Nokomis Nettie and her call name at GRA was Chloe - as per the website - but Bill said that was wrong and her name was actually Chole.......we didn't care for either and I had always loved the name Ruby (as it is my birthstone) and she took to it very quickly.

We didn't change the names of our boys.... Gable Virgil was just shortened to Virgil. It suits him to a T - he's a bit bossy, kind of a drama king and sometimes can be a little stuffy. Sometimes Virgil gets shortened to Vergie or Verge. And Deco Eric Flash just became Flash. And that suits him as well... he's a happy, carefree gentle soul who just loves everyone. He gets called Hot Flash when he's cooling off from a run, or Flash Fart when he's having tummy problems (~cough-cough~). Both of them took to there names quite quickly, Virgil probably faster than Flash.

1. Well, Willy's track name was WJS Yobaby Jake and he was called Jake at the kennel. I don't know why but I preferred to rename him as Willy.
2. Mary's track name was C'mon Marry Me, was called Mary at the kennel and because I didn't mind a hound name Mary, I continued to call her that. She actually looks like a "Mary".
3. Frankie's track name was Caty's Pride. The name "Pride" didn't really do much for me so I renamed him to Frankie. He's a mischievous young pup and seems to suit his name.
4. Johnny's track name was Caty's Johnny and his call name was Johnny. A funny little thing ... his brother " Pride" was renamed "Frankie", and then Johnny comes along as in the song "Frankie and Johnny" The boys and I also share the same birth date. It was as if it was meant to be!! His soft gentle character seems to suit his name.
5. Finally, a few years back, I adopted Ollie (now a Bridge angel) whose track name was DMK's Kick Butt. He got stuck with Butt as his call name. I chose to rename him "Ollie" to suit his awesomely funny personality. He just had one of those odd names that was necessary to change, I couldn't see myself calling him "Butt".
In any case, I have found the hounds to adjust very quickly to their new names, within a couple of days or so. I believe they are not referred to their original call-names that much.

We changed ours, they were Krafty Dusty now Mayhem and Doc Borris now Chaos. Learning their new names was a bit of a longer journey for us because Mayhem was in a foster home for many months first and Chaos was a bounce. Both boys are very smart and learned their new names within a couple of weeks, with the help of our friend the dehydrated liver treat!

Midwest Merlot was nicknamed Merlot during his kennel and racing days. I, for some reason had a hard time repeating the name Merlot...Merlot.
So went off in a different direction and came up with Kilo! It's easier for the ear to pick up a sharper sounding word. And the dog picked up on his new name in less than a week.

We changed all of ours to something completely new. Hobbes was Richard Hatch and was being called Ricky, Wally was TNJ Boy Howdy and was being called Howdy. Corinna however was a bit different, her race name was GLS Genuine Risk and on the adoptable list she was listed as "Risk" but when we got her papers from Bill "Corinna" was clearly marked on the front of the envelope along with her race name. She was given about 3 different names on the way home but none of them felt right. My husband decided to go with Corinna (although we both pronounce it differently) because it seemed to suit her perfectly. I assume her previous owners/trainers called her Corinna at the track but I really don't actually know when she first got the name.

Dingo aka Ding Dong actually new his name when he came to live with us. So we decided to change it but to something close. He usually gets called just Ding - but if we have to .... we will call him Ding Dong. It's sort of like using your kids full or middle name, and he knows you mean business!

We kept our boys racing names. No real reason.
We came to GRA to see PTL Travis. He was at the front of his row.I looked at Bill asked if it was Travis and then hollered out Travis.Went well so we kept it.He also gets Mr.Perfect and Boo Chevy.
Uncle Checker's name is Checkyourtickets.Gra called him Checkers. He was a bounce and only recently have we discovered that he responds immediately to Checks.Works for him.He now has call abilities we never thought possible.Maybe Checks is his name. Like everything in Checkers life,he has his mysterious ways.
We refer to them in conversation as Chucklehead and Gigglebox. They smile so much.Very smiley with each other too.
We have always had dogs that came with a name.Even the puppies.Never occurred to us to pick something for them either.
