Hey All,
As a future grey owner I am very interested in learning who changed their grey's racing name, who didn't and why!
Also, how quickly did your dog adjust to the new name?
(P.S. there are multiple selection options for multi-grey houses!)

We kept their names - I'd like to say it was for sentimental reasons or something like that but it's mostly for lack of creativity I would say both dogs came home with no idea they had a name - a handful of treats and a few exercises and they figured it out pretty quickly. I would say by the second day, if not sooner.

I kept the names my boys came home with, just changed the spelling a bit. They seemed to respond to it regardless, getting them to learn was never an issue.

I didn't like the names of our two Mango and Ages. We changed them to Abby and Ace. It took them very little time to adjust. Abby was a bounce. I don't know what her previous parents called her.

Most racing dogs are never actually called by name, so they don't care if you change it.
Our boys were Calypso Joe (now Little Joe or just Joe) and Shadow King (now Shadow Man or just Shadow). So we basically kept their names the same, mostly because the kids wanted it that way, LOL, I prefer outlandish names myself.

I kept the names my two girls were given at GRA, seemed to suit them very well. Both names were shortened versions of their racing names.....L'il Arfin Annie became Annie and Fringe Benefit became Beenee. Jane

Lakota was Lakota Drive, but she didn't know it at all, so it would have been just as easy to give her a new name. I, like quietstorm, also lacked the creativity to come up with something new. However, if she had a name that I didn't like, I would have changed it.

Leo was "L Deja Vu" which couldn't really be shortened to anything. Deja doesn't sound right, people wouldn't understand it, and my kids and I speak French so I would've felt strange calling him "Already".
I knew I wanted to take him to the dog park or have him play with other dogs, and lots of dogs have the "ee" sound at the end, so I wanted something with a different sound at the end but something he could recognize, like "oh", if I was calling him from far. I also didn't want a very common name. I've met one dog named Leo but it's not extremely common.
I thought of the name before I really knew him, before I took him home. As I got to know him, I found that it suited him very well, and other people have said the same thing. He learned his name quite quickly (treats really help!)

We kept her name as we liked it but she did not have any idea what her name was prior to us getting her. You could easily change it to whatever you would like!

We wanted to keep their names close to what their racing names were, but what do you do with "Craigie Director"? Didn't think my cousin Craig would appreciate the honour and Director? Good thing we didn't go for that because he suffers from a major case of Illusions of Grandeur-itis, LOL. Bill threw out "Hector" because I was playing (out loud) a game of "rhymes with" and couldn't come up with anything close to Director. Hector struck me as fitting so we went with it.
Holly's race name was K.C. Hotsy. K.C. gave me an icky "Sunshine Band" connection so that was out. Hotsy..... well, my neighbours were already questioning my sanity, couldn't imagine calling that from the backdoor. Holly works for us, LOL.

Gigi's racing name was: U TOO WISE ANGEL ! And they called her Angel.
On our way home from GRA I kept telling her she was a good girl; and awhile into the trip I asked my husband what he thought we should name her...he said: "G.G. for Good Girl" - so she became Gigi. ;D

We kept their names the same as their call names because they were all cute names and like Quietstorm said..... lack of creativity

Well, our two have call names that aren't at all related to their race names (Araley = Lark's Lark and Dexter = Run For Me) but those were the call names they had at GRA, so we didn't actually come up with new names. Our biggest trouble was figuring out how to spell and pronounce "Araley" (has been spelled "Aralea", "Aralee" and once "Araylea"). We tried Air-a-lee, which was how Bill pronounced it and then hit on "A-ray-lee". When her ears perked up, we knew that was "her" name. Of course, she doesn't mind when I baby-talk it and say "A-way-wee"

When we got our red broodie, her muzzle said her name was Duchess, and that's what Bill called her. However, one of our cats is named Duchess, so that wouldn't work. Since her registered name was Devie's Redstorm, we decided to call her Stormy and in just a short time she knew that name perfectly.

I used a variation of Izzie's race name. Her race name was Roc A By Isabel and at GRA she had the sign above her crate saying Isabelle. I thought of calling her Isabella instead but that seemed too long for calling her name, etc. I made up a tag as Isabella....but it seemed to formal....Plus I thought maybe a "y" or "ee" sound would appeal to her more. Thus she became Izzie! ....not to mention that I got this song stuck in my head from when I was a kid....The song from Bugs Bunny... "Ohhhh, Columbus was the discoverer of America...When he sailed the seas in 1492. And the good queen Isabella Gave her jewels to her fella". hehehe
