Just thought I'd pass along the info on my vet. I have used Dr. David Kirby for about 15 years for my various cats & was thrilled to learn that they have several grey clients! I was impressed with Chicky's first "wellness exam" and then followups for suture removal etc. by Dr. Kirby & all of the staff. Chicky requires dental surgery but Dr. Kirby felt we should wait 3 months as she has had general anaesthetic with her spay surgery & certainly under new stresses by leaving GRA, adjusting to my schedule, co-habitating with cats etc. So far I am fully confident with his knowledge of greyhounds & his staff are very friendly & helpful. A good alternative for anyone in North London. I can't compare prices with other London vets but so far I feel he is worth every penny. Dr. Tucker is no longer in exeter.
Dr. Tucker and his wife Dr. Piera Valenti now own Nicholls Animal Hospital.
Dr. Tucker , Dr Piera Valenti Nicholls Animal Hospital 760 Hyde Park Road. (hyde park rd. and Oxford) in London 519-641-2999
They were Rocky's vet and were very caring when we had to say goodbye to him. We now take Miner there. they are very grey savvy and the entire staff is great.

Southside Animal Clinic - in Pond Mills, London. My sister has worked for a few different vets in London (and has a greyhound), and she also likes Southside Animal Clinic. I think there are two vets there, but the one she knows and likes is Dr. Karen Lucas (the other vet there might also be good, she just doesn't know her).

Can anyone recommend a vet in Southern Ontario who would perform corn removal without anesthetic?
Queen West Animal Hospital does not.
Our dog's corn (and limping) returns every few weeks. I'm sure I'm not getting it out completely when I try myself.
What type of root elevator should be used?
Has anyone had success with the Glutathione Topical or any other cream?

Have you seen this: www.animalmedicalcentreofmedina.com/files/vet/21/74318634.pdfIt seems that they may sometimes run so deep that they can't be taken out completely and they often just come back every few weeks or months, so it's an ongoing thing, to have to remove them often. This article recommends a couple of creams to put on after it's been removed and shows a type of dental root elevator.

Yes thanks, followed the article's procedure - have used a tube of the Abreva, hasn't helped. We're waiting for the Glutathione to be delivered from the States, perhaps that will help, just wondering if anyone else has tried it.

We use Wellington Animal Hospital in Woodstock and the vet there Donna Flanagan is amazing. We would use her as our own doctor if we could. She has several other grey clients who just adore her.

Thanks for the recommendation - Donna Flanagan is not willing to see our dog about his corn - following questions about whether we were going to be regular clients or not - (we're two hours away but would certainly be willing to take him there for any corn treatment). We've been using the Glutathione cream regularly now for 2 weeks but no results - just softens the pad temporarily.

Yes, this is the cream we are using. Unfortunately the testimonials are only on the pharmacy's web site itself so I'm getting leery.
We'll keep at it though, since at this point, we have no alternative other than to keep removing them ourselves every 2 weeks.
thanks

I would recommend:
Leaside Animal Clinic 1662 Bayview Ave Toronto, ON M4G 3C2
Contacting Us: Phone: 416-481-1127 Fax: 416-481-1128 E-mail: info@leasideanimalclinic.com
Dr. Weintrop saw both Duke and Apple.
The clinic estimates that they have about 40 Greyhound patients at the moment, though ours were the first new ones for a while. She was very knowledgeable about Greyhound bloodwork, anaesthetic issues and other health issues.

I go to:
SHELBURNE Headwaters Veterinary Hospital Dr. Bob McKee 127 Owen Sound Shelburne, ON 519-925-3434
I am new to the area and have only gone once, but Dr. McKee worked for greyhound rescue in Waterloo previously, and is very knowledgable about greyhound's unique needs.
