While e-mailing back and forth with a fellow grey mom I came to learn that people feed their greys on different schedules than I do. My boys eat 2 meals/day (and lots of goodies in between) and NEVER miss a meal...okay, sometimes Murphy won't eat but that is only if I run outta yogurt. What about the rest of you grey parents out there...how do your grey/s eat?

I feed three smaller meals right now because Tyson had "the big D' and my other dog has acid reflux and it just works better for him.

We also do two meals/day. Loads of snacks in between. Hotwire also has a treatball that dispenses kibbles when he plays with it while we are at work, so he gets sort of a half a meal during the day.

I got mine at a small pet store called Small Wonders in toronto. I found a link for it. www.omegapaw.com/TrickyTreatBall.html It really helped with his separation problem. It is about 6" and fits about 2 cups of kibble if you fill it up the whole way. I should also say that there is kind of a tube inside, so the treats don't all fall out at the same time. We found it keeps him occupied alot longer than the kong.

We feed two meals a day... usually about 12 hours apart.
They get a treat before bed and every time we leave, they get a treat. Maybe a total of three a day.

Tigger and Abby get two meals a day, one at noon right after our lunchtime walk and once at around9 when my husband takes them on a supper walk. If we're camping, they usually get three smaller meals because their dishes at the trailor are smaller then the dishes at home. They get treats all day, and usually a donut when I come home from work (cant forget Tigger's strawberry powder donut!!!! He wont let me in the door without a tim horton's bag!! We were free feeding for a month on the vet's suggestion, she felt both our greys needed a little weight gain.

We feed Outta 2 meals a day, but she prefers to graze so although she gets fed at about 10 am & pm, she doesnt finish all her food right away. Most nights actually she doesnt touch her evening meal until after were all in bed. She has always been a "shy" eater and I think she prefers to eat alone (which, with 6 people in the house only happens at night lol)

2 meals a day at 7am and 6 pm followed by a treat. That's about the only treats they are getting during the week, but on weekends, they get "special treats"

My guys get 3 feedings/day. Once at 7am, again at 5pm and another small meal around 8pm. I like to give 3 rather than 2 just due to the volume of food being eaten and the amount of exercise they get. They get a few special small bite treats between feedings 2 and 3 and occasionally knuckle bones from the butcher to chew on.

My guy gets two meals a day about 8-9 hours apart. He gets a few treats every day - usually when I am leaving the house for the day. So, I'm still yet to determine whether he gets really really excited when he hears my keys because he thinks he's going for a walk, or because he thinks he's getting treats...I guess either way, he wins eh?

Ours get fed 3 times a day. Usually about 7:30am, 11:00am and 4:00 pm. Before we got our first, we read that if you hand feed you will bond with your dog better, and he/she will know that the food comes from you and not just magically appears in a bowl on the floor, so after 4 years we still hand feed our guys at every meal. They also each get 2 small cookies after their evening walk.

Brin & Katz get fed 2 times per day. Not too many treats in between (unless they are at Grandma & Grandpa's which is once a week). Just a couple of cookies a day although we have started to put a gel cap of Salmon oil on their dinner to help their coat and skin.

Our guys get two meals a day, a small one in the morning and a larger one at dinner time. We were giving them half and half, two medium meals a day, but they barely eat in the mornings. They are down to not eating at all in the mornings now too. We may move it to just a once a day, or a dinner time and before bed feeding. We have to take their food away when we leave because Zooks like to dump it all over the floor of his crate and the floor around him. He makes a huge mess. Then if we don't manage to get every last bit cleaned up? MOLD. I HATE mold and living with a microbiologist, those things are NOT allowed! hehehee.

All of my guys free feed. It works best for us, especailly because of shift work. I'll admit, at first we were worried about them over eating (Sullivan was very food motivated) but when they learnt that the food wasn't going anywhere, they very quickly realized that there was no need to eat it all at once or over indulge themselves.
