I am trying to create a "non-so-scientific" study to see how many of us are multiple Grey owners and why we feel having more than one is better? Krissy

Just to clarify. I voted for one as I only have one greyhound however I do actually have two dogs. The other is a mixed breed that is also a rescue from Greece.

I have two hands, Rene has two hands.. it only makes sense to have one dog for each hand. LOL I really can't say why I love having so many. I just know that I wouldn't have it any other way

I have three boys. I had my first one for three months by himself and he was really stressed. Once I added my second, everyone was much happier. The third one I added because I heard of a high need boy that needed a home. If I'm going to walk a dog I might as well walk three. I hold them all on one arm and scoop with the other. I have no problem. The cost of keeping them certainly increases with more than one but the increase in the amount of love returned is well worth it. ;D

Hi, Due to a serious health problem we had to euthanize our adopted greyhound after only 11 months. We were devastated. We decided to get another greyhound a month later. Ralph has many different traits than our "Sid" but he is coming in to his own. We had our daughter's dog (Jack Russell) visit us recently and Ralph just perked right up. We are now considering adopting another greyhound. Should we look at another boy or a girl? Does it make a difference? Thanks, Ralphsmom

If I had my way, Roman would have a sibling. Being a student and all, BF and I feel it's best to wait till we are more settled. For now, Roman will have to learn to play with his feline sister Lola instead

Just one at the moment - Moby (female). Started with three - Biggles (male) died of liver cancer in 2002 and Curtsy (female) died of kidney failure a year later.

Thanks, Ralphsmom I have two boys and they get along really well. the girls tend to be a little bossy but if you can handle her it will be ok. the most important thing is that they get along and you will know in the first 5 minutes if they are good together

I have 2 greys and 2 siamese. I started with Guinness in early December and then Jack came home with us in late January. Guinness' incontinence issues disappeared and he seemed more settled after Jack arrived. I have found that Guinness is much more clingy - follows me constantly and should have been named Velcro. Jack is much more independent and more likely to get himself into trouble. If I had a bit more space and $$ I'd bring a 3rd home. I would have likely nipped Sting if he hadn't already been adopted.

We only have one - Zooks, but definitely want another! Zooks is a male, so should we get another male? I was thinking of just letting him pick out his own companion! We would prefer a slightly smaller greyhound (female likely) because Zooks is so big. But, I guess what he chooses is what we'll get!

We have 1 greyhound and a little lab hound mix who thinks she is a greyhound. We would get another greyhound but Windsor bylaw does not permit any more than 2 dogs

I've had Sting for a year and I adopted his brother Eagle about three weeks ago. I haven't seen much difference in Sting's behaviour since I adopted Eagle, but I know it takes time for them to fully adjust to the new situation. I'm not regretting adopting Eagle for a moment, for I feel that his personality adds a lot to my little animal family (3 cats and now 2 dogs). I'm very happy that I adopted Eagle, it's been fun getting to know him. Personally I don't notice a lot of difference between having one dog and having two. It's just an extra meal to prepare twice a day, and a bit of extra time getting them ready for walks, crate time etc. But, I think that for certain dogs, adopting a second can be helpful, for instance a shy dog can be helped to come out of his shell with a second dog in the house. I mainly adopted Eagle because I like the extra companionship, and I know Sting likes it too. My personal belief is that social animals deserve to have the chance to live with at least one other of their species. My cats are a lot happier with multiple cats in the house, and I figured that Sting would be happier with another dog as well. Nowadays they are sleeping touching each other when out of their crates, so I think I made a good decision for them.
