In case you've ever questioned the existence of a Rainbow Bridge as you coped with a broken heart, this may help you to know:
We took our lovely Hachiko (and a heart-shaped toy and a handful of her favourite cookies) to the vet yesterday to have her cremated. Although she died the previous day, I think she stayed with us as we sat vigil with her body all night, petted her, and talked about our memories and stories. I think she came with us for the final trip to the vet. Before they took her away from us, we had a few last moments, and all I could do was cry. My wife, however, gave instructions to Hachiko, who always seemed to understand what we told her:
"When you reach the Rainbow Bridge safely, please send me a sign."
Ten hours later, there was a big, bright rainbow in the sky here in Ottawa.
It's real. And now we all know how long it takes to get there.

What a beautiful, lovely thing. We, too have had signs from our beloved pets when they went over the Rainbow, and it is amazing to receive them. Hugs to both of you. Janette and the Quints

This takes my breath away and brings tears at the same time. How incredibly beautiful and re-affirming.
Think of that rainbow when days are dark with sorrow. Her spirit will always be with you. Take care.

Such beautiful stories. I'm so sorry for you loss.
I totally agree with you. Last week I went to pick up Thunder's ashes. When I got back into the car, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" came on the radio. I smiled and cried. What a beautiful sign.

It's wonderful that you received signs from Hachiko. The bottle is especially heartbreaking...
