For those that aren't on GRA FB, I thought I'd share the same FB photos re the arrival of new greyhounds. Weather was plus 10C, sunny and windy.
The hauler, loaded with greyhounds, arrived at GRA on Saturday, February 20th after having traveled non stop from Florida.
Within minutes of arriving, the hounds were unloaded and moved to the turnout pen to stretch their legs and go potty.
The turnout pen was a busy place .... besides the hounds "getting their legs" back and going potty, they also took time out to greet the volunteers.
Following the turnout pen, the hounds were each assigned a crate, fed and watered and given time to relax. Cindy was being entertained by Housewife Atlanta who was just full of kisses and hugs ...
Here is one handsome cow-boy named Linebacker. He is one of trainer Stephanie Brooke Elrod's pups. He's a beautiful big boy.
And this is the amazing team, Don and Joy Burke, who drove non stop from Florida to Ontario, bringing GRA these beautiful retired racing greyhounds. Heather is pictured here as well for a photo-op prior to the Burkes leaving on their return trip.
And last but not least, is a group photo of the volunteers who turned out Saturday to help with the new arrivals (not including those who were taking photos). The day was amazing .... meeting Don and Joy, and all those gorgeous greyhounds. It was a long journey for the hounds but that didn't stop them from wanting attention and giving it back with their hugs and snuggles. The kennel will be closed until Saturday, February 27th in order to give the hounds time to settle in and rest. If anyone is interested in visiting the kennel, please contact Heather at crazyforgreys@rogers.com.
