I am planning on getting a retired racer. I have an IG. I am thinking behaviour and demeanor of an IG and Grehound would be similar and that they would generally get along. Any thoughts on this??

Hi there and nice to see your on our forum. I own a few greyhounds and two whippets and while I have never owned an IGY, my personal thought is that the whips are very different from the greyhounds so I would assume the IGY would be as well. I know in the world of whippets, there are breeders who would not sell to a home that had greyhounds and I also know of a greyhound breeder who would not sell to a home with whippets. So you can see, lot's of diversity here. There are many greyhounds owners who co-exist beautifully with cats and small dogs as well. Hopefully, you will get more replies to help you. M

My Tox is often with two IGs. An 80lb dog can be dangerous to something that small and fragile, even if they are just playing. They are always supervised. Do I think they could co exist? Yes, but it would definitely take some work and the right greyhound.
